    I have a 2015 Mini and I have a report on the screen to say that the handbrake is not on. I have googled it and it says that the switch under the gearstick needs replacing at that this is a common fault. I had my mobile car mechanic in and he connected his device to the car and he says that the gearstick and everything connected to it has to be replaced.
