We have 6 acres of land which consists of a 4 acre field and the reaming area is given over to forestry. There is a 3 bedroom stone house together with a 100 foot barn which have been renovated already on site. We want to build a 22m x 7m single story passive house on the hillside above the field, high up so we have the views, which is green belt. This will consist of 2 bedrooms, lounge, kitchen diner and utility room. We propose using heat exchange technology and solar panels to heat the water, plus any other means on making the property more efficient. We would be happy to sink the building partly into the hillside to reduce the impact. We run a small holiday let business which we are finding increasingly difficult to manage due to our age and ill health. I (67) have diabetes and prostate cancer, my wife(65) also has diabetes and is riddled with arthritis. We want our son and his family to be nearer in order to take over the running of the business and provide help to enable us to carry on living on the site. The proposal is that they would move into the existing house. Additionally our grandson (11) has been diagnosed as autistic which has placed great pressure on the family unit. We would be able to provide rest bite to the family as they are near breaking point with the stress. We also have a granddaughter (4) who is suffering due the demands and stresses on the family and we feel that, if they were closer, we would be able to provide support in that area as well. We would like you to advise on the prospect of gaining planning for this project and a detailed quotation as to the costs (including fees etc) of managing this through the planning application.Read more
