  Hello, We are looking to buy a property an old cottage in GL19 but need to understand the cost involved of taking out an internal ceiling from a bedroom to expose the roof beams above (which are part of a fully carpeted attic room directly above it). We would then need to put in a partition wall in the attic to enclose the bedroom from the rest of the attic space. We need to understand that structurally it is safe to do this without risk to the cottage and if not what would need to done to provide the necessary support.
