    My Wife suffered a severe stroke last November and is not likely to survive for much longer. I am in the first instance the sole beneficiary of her Will. When we set up our (mirror) Wills, we did not envisage that there would be any difficulty, but we have been advised otherwise more recently to apply for Powers of Attorney for Health and Wealth. The Will is straightforward: there is a fairly large sum of money invested with a large, reliable British financial company, and some smaller amounts with banks or building societies.     Claim compensation from council for property damage from leak from next door. I own my house whereas next door is a council property. My house is an ex council house. Neighbours had a leak from a water pipe which ruined their kitchen and they had to have their floor dug up due to the fact that the water had soaked so far down. Their contractors said it has probably been leaking for over a year (before I moved in) I have had some issues with damp which I now believe to be from this as we share a wall and foundations.(I will be getting an independent contractor to confirm this). However, because of where the leak is I will need to rip up my kitchen floor and remove cupboards which I financially cannot do, especially when I feel the council are liable to pay for the damage.
