I am an 86 year old gentleman and was diagnosed with viral encephalitis early March 2018 and spent 6 weeks in St Thomas Hospital. On discharge my home was set up with a single bed downstairs and frames round the toilets for me to hold on to, I was also provided with a zimmer frame. Brent council was informed of my condition and I was registered with the Brent Older Adults Mental Health team. I was visited by a physiotherapist who quickly got me off the zimmer replacing it with a stick and my walking fairly quickly returned to normal. In the summer of 2018 I eventually was able to go out on my own and via public transport visited museums etc, Covid, of course, restricted what I could do 2019. But the past few weeks have been atrociously bad in that I have been unable to sleep when lieing down and suffering great pain in my back. I visited my GP on Wednesday and she gave me a physical examination and determined that I have a sensitive trapazine muscle which is likely the source of the exruciating pain I suffered in bed. I have bought an orthopaedic bed and an electric warming pad and must admit that I haven't suffered pain for the past 3 nights although I am very stiff at first when I get out of the bed. My GP suggested that I should seek a private physio to help. My preference would be a home visit but I am flexible about that.
