Part of a very old low wall beside our drive requires repair after being hit by a delivery lorry. The damaged section is 3.4 metres long, 80 cm high & 24 cm thick. It has a concrete foundation, 8 courses of imperial bricks of an unusual size (2” x 8.5” x 4”) then a course of 2.5 “ bricks & a half round (brick) coping on the top. There was a thicker pier at the end. The force of impact was such that the foundation has been pulled out of the ground for 1.2 metres. We would be happy for the finished wall to be a bit shorter to reduce the risk of same happening again! (Although this seems to be the first time it’s been hit in 400 years....)
