I have an Aspire 5742, and I was looking to use it to stream from until I can save up to get a tower PC. Sadly the graphics card won't support DX11 (it's an Intel HD Graphics card). Is there any way this can be upgraded and how much would this cost? I just need the laptop to work as much as possible until I can replace it. Thank you. :)

  • Clean Bytes, posted on Monday 7 September 2020 Hi Kerry, Unfortunately due to laptops having on-board GPUs (graphics cards) this isn't a part you can upgrade the same as you would on a Desktop PC. What is it you are trying to stream exactly? (there may be a workaround).
  • Teamwild Pc Solutions, posted on Tuesday 8 September 2020 I too concur with Clean Bytes, you can't change the GPU on a laptop. Best wishes
  • Brighter IT Solutions, posted on Friday 11 September 2020 Unfortunately no way to upgrade GPU. You can upgrade RAM, and HDD- the last one resulting in biggest overall performance increase provided you can afford a SSD. You won't be able to make a gaming machine out of this one though
