Closed Clean or change gears on a old fashioned style metronome

I have an old fashioned metronome with a swinging pendulum, that sticks on the lower tempoes. Im not sure if it needs cleaning. Looked it up on line and it said the gears might need replacing, it has been used every day for the last 15 years.
