We bought a used car paid £250 deposit as we have since discovered in insuring car it was older 10 years it has a 60 plate which we asked what year that was we were told it was a 12/13 As our previous car was an 11 I told the salesman obviously we wanted newer than that. The problem is I understand that the deposit would be not returned but we are being threatened with having to pay a further £500 or they will take us to court. Apart from the stress this is causing and being pensioners whose only income is a gov pension. Our last car was written off as my husband had a blackout at the wheel undergoing tests now we had a courtesy car for 2 weeks so felt we had to find a new car within short time frame. I tried to appeal to them but they are not interested I offered to pay a further £250. This has been turned down. We do not own property in rented sheltered accommodation. This is causing great stress my husband who is not well cannot take this stress and says we will have to pay. I want to know if this is inevitable. Regards Liz Phillips
