I have an existing border about 15-20 meters long and a meter wide filled with very mature shrubs, which have become too large. I wish to replace these with a series of smaller shrubs, plants etc and keep to a height of no more than a meter. I would like advice on the types of plants etc to improve the aesthetic appearance of the house. The soil is poor, mostly clay and plenty of stones etc.
