I have a 15 year old daughter who has over the last 6 months has been suffering for depression which has been getting worse over time. Over the last month things have gotten so bad that she has missed weeks of school due to having no motivation to get out of bed and all she does is cry all day which then sets off the panic attacks. We have been and seen a doctor who recommended that I get her school to do a Tams report, which they have done and this was sent off last Friday 22nd March. However I have been informed that it could take up to 8 months before she is seen? The doctor has advised that other than the Tams report and contacting you there isn't much he can do. My main concern is that she has a lot of pressure from school with GSCE's and she is starting to miss too many Lessons. I'm trying to work with the school and Melanie's head of year. At the moment she is on reduced lessons and the lessons she isn't going to she is in a big room on her own with either a book for her to read or school work if she can get some. Melanie use to enjoy classes and school and she is currently in the top set classes within the school. When Melanie is having a bad day, we are unable to get her into school due to the panic attacks and extreme low mood. Melanie was having counseling in year 7 when she started secondary school and this seemed to help for a while. However this is not available within the school anymore. As well as the lack of motivation, panic attacks and crying, Melanie has had problems sleeping, lack of concentration, feeling extremely low and having suicidal thoughts. I'm looking for a female councilor to be able to sit with Mel to try and get her open up a little and try to find out what the underlining problem is and to try and get her back to happy self. Kind Regards
