I have what I think they call 'hammer toes' they are the toes next to the big toe. Callouses are forming on these toes which are getting uncomfortable. I wondered if strapping would help.

  • Queens Park Chiropody, posted on Friday 9 June 2017 Hello, Strapping, or padding may help, but only if the toes are still mobile. The most important thing is to remove the callus, before they develop into corns, which can be very painful. A chiropodist would need to look at the toes to see exactly what the situation is, then a treatment plan can be suggested. Regards, Suzanne Edge Queens Park Chiropody

Foot Focus Podiatry, posted on Friday 9 June 2017 Hammer toes are a painful condition. The cause is multi factorial and will need to be addressed. I would agree with Suzanne with regards conservative management of corns. Depending on the severity of your problem manipulation can help to increase mobility of the foot and toes. Surgery can be another option which will be discussed with you at your appointment. Whoever helps you I hope you get this resolved. kind regards Aengus Footfocus Podiatry and Foot Injury Centre
