I have two 7 year old identical twin daughters with mixed race afro european hair that is like an afro when left to it's own natural formation. I have tried plaiting it into 4 quarters but mostly tie it tight into a pony tail then bun to keep it managed. They do not like the combing required, I use a wide toothed comb - I currently use Kids Organics Shea Butter Detangling Moisturizing Hair Lotion until the comb can go through without tugging much, which seems to work fine. They have not had their hair trimmed since they were born, I have been known to cut out a bad knot before but their hair is combed every day or every other now. It is time to get their hair trimmed, to imrove the health of their hair and hopefully make managing and manageability of them easier - with a few hints/tips too please? They are quite scared of going to the hairdressers as do not like combing and think you may take all their hair off! Who could offer to chat with them first then trim their hair please - also hints/tips tutorials very welcome. Really looking forward to hearing from professionals who work with their type of hair.

Just to add, I am using pure coconut oil now with a coconut moisturising wash which seems to make their hair softer. Pleased with the change as any other product so far, when washed out, showed their hair to be very dry indeed - no moisturiser soaked in until now.
I am thinking of removing this request, but will leave it a week incase anyone else out there... :-)
