I have today been notified that my dept is shrinking and I have the option of applying for my role, taking a redundancy package (worth 2 years of my current salary) and an early retirement package, as I will be 55 years old in the next 3 months. In the literature it recommends I take independent tax advice to ensure I understand and I'm guided correctly. I have worked for my current employer for 36 years and I'm in a final salary pension scheme
