Closed Outside Aerial reconnected for smart tv

Moved into a new house & want to connect my smart tb to outside aerial. Last owner had sky- sky dish still up- looks like cable for aerial has been cut & connected to the sky dish! I don't plan to use sky. Could the cable be reconnect to the aerial so that I can pick up freeview that's on my tv?
