London, Greater London
Wall clock battery (has a sort of starburst design) about 40 years old was working perfectly until a carer attempted to change battery and clock simply stopped. New battery was tried again but clock still not working. This clock was expensive in its day costing some £35. It belongs to an old lady of 83 who is quite upset about it for sentimental reasons. She is my neighbour and I know how much this clock means to her. It is has a very unusual movement for a digital clock. (It is not one of the cheap Chinese varieties). The original shop she bought it from no longer exists. The reason it stopped is that the carer may have put the battery in wrong way causing the power to polarise and burnt a resistor? If anyone can help especially in or around the London SE16 areas she would be most grateful. Thank you. I can probably arrange to take it to anyone who can fix it if you are not to far away as I am 73 myself.
