Closed Sheltered housing for under 50s

I am making enquiries on behalf my nephew age 38 to discover the housing possibilities for him. He has slight learning difficulties but also suffers from an epileptic type illness involving frequent hospital admittances making living on his own in UN sheltered accommodation. At present he has been living with his mother who has also,had health problems but the two were ill at different times so were able to support each other. His mother has now been in hospital since October. Excellent neighbours and members of the local church have been keeping an eye on him thinking his mother would be coming home. It now looks as though his mother may never be able to come home and will need to,go to a nursing home. My sister ( his mother) owns the home ( value £350000) they both live in but neither of them have any other money. Is there any sort of sheltered accommodation which my nephew could get to,rent or buy?
