Closed Cuckoo clock repair

I have a German (Bavaria) hand made cuckoo clock. The chain for winding the clock has come off the wheel and I am unable to wind the clock. I would mend it myself but cannot see how the back comes off . I would be interested to know if it is possible to put the chain back on the wheel and approximately what the cost would be.
