Hi, I'm looking for a practical rust repair on a 2014 Mercedes Sprinter (ex-Mobile Post Office). This is not an insurance repair or cosmetic restoration. The van is being converted into a business vehicle and will be wrapped once the bodywork is complete, so I'm not looking for a perfect paint finish or colour match. The objective is simply to stop the rust properly and leave the body in sound condition before wrapping. The work I'm looking for is: Cut out and weld any areas where the rust has perforated the metal.
Grind back and treat all remaining surface corrosion.
Repair the rear wheel arches where required.
Repair the corrosion around the rear step/sill.
Repair the rust around the sliding door aperture Prime all repaired areas so they are protected and ready for wrapping. A final colour coat is not required. I'd rather you spend the money on properly removing and treating the rust than on cosmetic finishing. My priority is a solid, long-lasting repair, not a showroom finish. The inside of the van is currently stripped and the ply lining has not yet been fitted, so access to the inside of the panels and door apertures is available if that helps with the repairs.
