Dear, We would like advice and an indication of price for renovation or replaceing a headstone. The existing headstone (my fathers) was: • Made in 1982 • White Italian Marble • Is of a Cross with 3 bases • It has RIP on arms of the cross • Inscription was 60 letters – the renewed stone will have 96 letters • 2 flower containers in the bases According to the invoice all foundations and erections were upon the grave. The grave is in the cemetery by Good Hope. It is now badly corroded so we are debating whether to renovate or replace it. Renovation: 1. I appreciate you can not quote without seeing the condition of the stone – But in your experience what is the price range for such a job? 2. What means exist for protecting White Italian Marble is future so it does not deteriorate in the same way again? Replacement: 1. Our research suggest granite is more durable. Could you give a rough estimate for a headstone of the same design but made in black granite. I don’t have the size of the original so feel free to make an assumption on the size and let us know what that is. 2. Please include the estimate for erection of the headstone. Kind regards
