So my car starting playing up, when I’d turn the key in the ignition it would click over a few times before starting, then after like 3 days the it wouldn’t click over when I’d turn the key just silence. So I bought a second hand starter motor thinking that was where the problem was coming from, the mobile mechanic said it was my starter playing up an that the 1 I bought from the Merton car scrapyard was faulty, so I bought a brand new 1 paid out for another mobile mechanic and he said it’s not the starter motor that it could either be the wiring or could be the ignition. Thanks in advance.

  • Liverpool Auto Care Ltd, posted on Monday 5 January 2026 Thank you for your enquiry. Yes, this is something we can assist you with. In order to determine the exact fault, its cause, and the steps needed to rectify it, we would first need to carry out a diagnostic inspection on your vehicle. This is a chargeable service, with prices ranging from £65 to £165, depending on the level of investigation required. If the fault can be identified and resolved during the diagnostic process without the need for additional parts or further inspection, then the repair will be included in this cost, with no extra charges. If further work is required (e.g., replacement parts or more in-depth investigation), we will provide you with a full quotation before proceeding. You are under no obligation to accept the repair work at that stage but the Diagnostic inspection fee will still be chargeable. Following the diagnostic inspection, you will receive a detailed diagnostic report along with a quotation for any repairs or replacements needed.
