Closed Monitor Speaker Repair

I have a pair of seemingly pristine condition Wavemaster Pro Two monitor speakers which look fine to me but are not working. If I turn them on there is just a low rumbling noise in the active speaker only, which is the same regardless of whether you turn the volume up. There is no sound from the passive speaker. I want someone to work out what's wrong and to get them working.
