I would like a price for collection and delivery of the following, please: I have a consignment of oak boards required for delivery at some date in the New Year 2025, yet to be fixed, between January and end of February 2025. The date is likely to be weather dependent. The oak boards weigh approximately 5200 kg and will be a maximum length of 6 metres. However, due to the restrictions of the access roads at the delivery address in the Brecon Beacons, the shortest vehicle which will carry the load will be necessary. The boards will be loaded by hand to a box or curtain sided vehicle. I will organise the loading. I anticipate that loading may take 2 hours from arrival at my premises to leaving. I anticipate that unloading may take a similar amount of time. The collection will be from CW7 2PR and delivery will be to NP7 7NP. Access to the collection point is via a fully accessible farm track which accommodates articulated HGVs. Access to the delivery address is via a made up tarmac road from Hay-on-Wye up a steep and winding hill which will comfortably take an 18 ton box or curtain side vehicle. However, the route is entering the Brecon Beacons and the road narrows as it progresses towards NP7 7NP. I have previously personally driven and delivered to the same site a larger load with a hired box vehicle. The van brushed lower branches on trees without damage. Many other similar HGVs have been delivering to this site for over 12 years which keeps the tree cover under control. However, at 77 years of age, I have surrendered my HGV licence. The overall route from collection to delivery is about 122 miles. I suggest pricing for collection in the afternoon of Day1, as early a start as is practible for the driver on Day2 to enable delivery and return to base. Yours truly, David Gunton
