Something amiss with my cassette / chain / groupset in general. I replaced my chain and chainrings recently, did not replace the cassette because it is showing no signs of wear. Chain now slips on some gear combinations, fine on others. Definitely not to do with gear indexing. Budget is quite tight

  • The Bike Shop Wales Ltd., posted on Tuesday 19 September 2023 Hello Sam, We are not sure what you mean when you say that the cassette is not showing signs of wear. It is very difficult to identify wear on a cassette. Typically you need to measure the stretch in a chain to know if the cassette will work with a new chain. If you have your old chain we can measure it to see if you should've changed your cassette. It is common for the chain to only slip on the cogs on the cassette that you used the most with your previous chain. If we just need to adjust your gears in the rear it is £10 as long as we don't have to put a new cable in. Just bring it in.
