Not a job most will quote for especially with age of bike - as it's all about time and component removal - which on these, is substantial. The other issue weve found over the years is to start with plug at headstock, 95% chance of heavy corrosion inside plug and thats just the start. Have seen these selector switches take a good 8 hours to get to the bottom of fault and put back together. 1st thing we always suggest is making sure it's a new/good battery - beemers hate low voltage especially when trying to crank - they trigger all sorts of faults most commonly abs lights and then it begins.... 2nd we suggest is to just leave it alone...any rider with over 1 hours road experience doesnt need to look at a display to see what gear they are in at any time ;-) and it makes zero difference to the value, or use, of an old machine.   David Jack, posted on Tuesday 29 August 2023 Hi Paul, appreciate your response. Have had the bike about 15 years and hardly used it, recently fixed a problem with the fuel injector and the gear indicator is just a bit annoying. Battery just replaced. Appreciate your advice, chimes with what I was told a couple of years ago by MoT inspector that it's a big job for little reward. Cheers, David
