- Mr Bike Motorcycles Airdrie, posted on Sunday 27 August 2023 Hi. Not a job most will quote for especially with age of bike - as it's all about time and component removal - which on these, is substantial. The other issue weve found over the years is to start with plug at headstock, 95% chance of heavy corrosion inside plug and thats just the start. Have seen these selector switches take a good 8 hours to get to the bottom of fault and put back together. 1st thing we always suggest is making sure it's a new/good battery - beemers hate low voltage especially when trying to crank - they trigger all sorts of faults most commonly abs lights and then it begins.... 2nd we suggest is to just leave it alone...any rider with over 1 hours road experience doesnt need to look at a display to see what gear they are in at any time ;-) and it makes zero difference to the value, or use, of an old machine. , posted on Tuesday 29 August 2023 Hi Paul, appreciate your response. Have had the bike about 15 years and hardly used it, recently fixed a problem with the fuel injector and the gear indicator is just a bit annoying. Battery just replaced. Appreciate your advice, chimes with what I was told a couple of years ago by MoT inspector that it's a big job for little reward. Cheers, David
