I made my friend the registered keeper of vehicle with a market value of £3000 in February, I still own the vehicle.
Recently noticed the car has no MOT, so ran a HPI as I am still the owner. The car is now a category S vehicle - this means he has had an insurance payout for the car and fraudulently claimed to his insurance he owned the car in order to do so as i have had no communication from any insurance companies detailing monies owed to myself.
As far as I'm aware the only way a car can become an insurance write off is if it becomes property of an insurance company so his claim must have been successful (yet fraudulent).
I am looking for damages to the value of the car (£3000 - private market) as the car was for my fiancee who would now like to start driving but has no vehicle to learn in as I intended to teach her in it.
We had an agreement that he would maintain the vehicle in exchange for free usage of it.
He became the registered keeper after I received a £30 fine from Bedford Borough Council for the car going the wrong way up a bus lane and realised I could potentially receive points on my licence for his reckless behaviour if caught speeding; I need my licence clean for my job.
