My cottage roof needs to be strengthened. John Crompton, Structural Engineer, has prepared notes and working drawings, which I can forward by email. In brief, it involves inserting a steel beam into the roof space, fitting, probably, a lintel above the bedroom/landing windows in the rear wall of the cottage, for additional support; and introducing extra timbers, and ties. The notes and drawings should explain all.
