Closed Faulty/loose speed control dial

Have a gifted scooter (model, make and year unknown) got about two weeks ago worked okay until Saturday when speed control button seems to have com loose so it can't be used at present. Needed to get around as have no car and walking not an option. Please help, I am a 62 year old lady with limited to no income. Thank you.
