I have rebuilt a 1976 Garelli Katia moped that belonged to my late father. I got it back after it was stolen and the engine was seized. I got the barrel rebored and honed and a new piston and rings fitted. Unfortunately, I only have a basic understanding of the ignition system and I suspect that the HT coil is faulty but I don't know how to check it. It is a type no longer available I have been informed, as it is housed inside the flywheel and serves the function of both primary and secondary coil. I have a spare flywheel, back plate with two coils on it and condensor and points fitted, that came off a NVT moped. They all look in good condition and appear to be similar to the Garelli but there's no obvious HT connection. I really would like someone knowledgeable to see if it's possible to cobble up a solution so I can get it back on the road. Thanks.
