My shower is dripping. I've had somebody look at it before, and they said it was most likely a worn-out rubber gasket / washer inside the mechanism that controls temperature / water flow, if I've understood them correctly. That mechanism is built into the wall, so I was told that any repair would require tearing open the tiles and the wall. My question is whether it cannot be repaired without tearing open the wall. Or, in the alternative, whether another solution cannot be found. The shower hose comes directly out of the wall, too - I've been thinking it might be possible just to build in a stop at that point, some sort of valve that could just be added between the hose and where it is attached? Please let me know - thanks a lot in advance. AlexRead more

I live on the top floor of a 4-storey block of flats. The heating is a communal system which provides central heating and hot water to all the flats. The heating comes on in October and goes off in March of each year. This year, when the heating was turned on, my radiators did not get hot. I bled them, and water spurts out but is cold. I reported this to the managing agents who told me that it may be due to residue in the radiators due to me being at the end of a 'leg' of the heating system. Basically I need to know if there is anything that can be done, and how much it would cost. Thank youRead more
