  ok easy job i was told changing the drive gear on my speedo 5 speed box mk1 golf gti yep undone 9mm lockating bolt no problem pulled out speedo from gearbox no issues removed worn drive gear no issues managed to fit new drive gear on in the end but cannot get the cable in deep enough to seal hole and refit locatibg bolt 3 hours but old drive gear back on still no joy only way i can get it to fit is removing drive gear goes into place easy then any ideas im in selsea dont want to drive it without drive gear on case lose end of cable gets caught up in gearbox and without it located im gessing oil will come out of hole please any help or advice even mobile mechanic as aa said they will not come out as im at safe location and i have attempted repair.Read more
