  I want to replace a wooden post supporting a pergola at the front of the house. I have it in mind that a stout metal pole, round or square would be a suitable replacement. The metal pole could sit inside an existing 18 inch high square metal post (4 x4 inch) set in concrete presently anchoring the wooden post. The top of the post will need some kind of means of supporting the stout wooden (6 x 2 inch) beam stretching across the front of the pergola.Read more
