  We live in a terraced house on Harrington Road, Workington. I am considering a partial loft conversion for storage etc. I am a plasterer and will do most of the non structural work myself. The main job I need looked at is the strengthening of the loft floor. The joists are 11cm x 3.5cm and span the length of the loft (approx 10.70m), with spaces of 38cm apart. There is only one wall underneath the loft and this is timber. At the highest point the ceiling height is 2.10m so I would not want to loose too much height if possible. I would also need stairs or a wooden loft ladder as well. Looking to start work on the loft pretty soon.Read more
