Hi,i am going to be fitting a complete new kitchen myself very shortly. I currently have an electric cooker/hob. For my new kitchen i would like to install a gas hob. At the moment there are no gas pipes installed in the kitchen. My house has a morning room and then a small extension were the current kitchen is. I plan to merge the morning room to the small extension so making a much larger kitchen. Currently in the morning room there is a small length of capped gas pipe (13mm copper) which serviced an old gas fire,it runs close from the gas meter/ and is approximately 1.5 meters in length. I'm not sure if you could run off this or have to start a fresh. The length from the gas meter to the preposed gas hob is approx 5 meters in a straight line, however the morning room has a wooden floor but the extension has a solid floor and there is a small internal cavity wall which pretrudes around 1 meter that the pipe may have to go around/through. The job would probably have to be done in 2 parts. I thought it may be best to fit the majority of the pipework before i fit all the units in place and then when i get the hob in situ you could maybe come back and connect up. I'm really not sure which would be better for you,its up to you which you think is best. Many thanks for your help, kind regards Keith.Read more
