I think there is a blockage in either the drain or sewer, or both, outside my property near the back door, there is a utility room between the kitchen and back door which used to have a toilet, prior to the bathroom extension being built in the 1980's before the houses were sold by the council. The toilet drain is now used to drain water from the washing machine located there. Immediately outside this room there is a down pipe from the guttering which empties into a drain, I have noticed that sometimes water takes some time to clear down this drain after the rain. There is evidence of damp in the wall behind this and the the wall behind the washing machine where the toilet drain pipe sits. About 18 months ago I had work done on the pointing on the walls of the house and suspect that the drain might have filled up with the brick and cement dust which was created during this process, as I had no problems prior to this work being done.
