    Hello, I've got a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series laptop which I initially got for uni work but which (due to personal and covid circumstances) has also become my main gaming device and the way I stay in touch with my friends through discord and gaming. I'm running Windows 10 version 10.0.19041.867, with an Intel Core i5-8250U CPU @ 1.60GHz, 8GB of RAM, and 128MB of VRAM (if I'm reading the correct information display). I was wondering how to upgrade my laptop's gaming capacity and some websites suggested my graphics card was the weak link. One website recommended an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 as an upgrade. Would this be a good fit for the rest of my current specs? For reference, my laptop can currently comfortably run games like Hearts of Iron 4, Europa Universalis 4, Tabletop Simulator multiplayer, Minecraft multiplayer (albeit I've only played concurrently with about 4 people), Sunless Skies, and Medieval 2 and Napoleon Total War. It's also previously run Company of Heroes 1, Telltale's Walking Dead, and CS:GO, although with extensively reduced graphics to improve performance.Read more

    Hi, Are you able to offer advice /assistance re my approx 5 yr old Toshiba laptop? I need the laptop for sessional work I do online so need to know whether the malfunction I had today is a minor or major problem or repairable at all. I would prefer repair in this throw away world but.... The laptop is a Toshiba has served me well is about 5 years old and has been working well until this morning. Switched on this morning for work. Could not access Internet either via BT or mobile broadband. Initially machine was showing all Internet sources available but not connected. Then Internet dialogue box then showed & flight only button and not listing of broadband sources available. Blundered around a bit, diagnostic scan shows no problem and have tried system restore to an earlier date, out of desperation rather than any hope. After the system restore operation on restarting I received a blue screen with a QR code which I followed (something like Oxc000021a) which then took me through a troubleshooting message which suggested that problem could be due to a 3rd party anti-virus program, suggested getting into safe recovery mode via another list of options - however the f5 key failed to lead me anywhere.
