I have been advised by a friend to contact you to see if I have a case or not. Me and my partner moved to England 2 years ago from Bulgaria. We have recently started working as a delivery driver for Amazon. Upon starting work we had to hire our vans from a company called “indigo” and the weekly charge was deducted from our wages. Within working for approx 2 months, out of the blue we were told that indigo had been sold to another company called “boxvn” and we now had to pay a £500 deposit for the vans we had been driving for the past 2 months. We complied and paid the money. Within the contract it states that repair bills and wear and tear was included in the rental. My partner then had a problem with his brakes and they needed to be repaired. He contacted boxvn and made them aware of the problem. They told him to take the van to a garage where it would be repaired. Again he complied however the garage told him that they were unable to fix the problem and that he was took take it somewhere else. He arranged with boxvn to take it this other garage only again to be told that they too couldn’t repair the problem. After numerous conversations with boxvn and numerous attempts taking it to and from garages and sending us on a merry go round 9days had then passed by. Boxvn being unable to sort the problem out my partner then decided to repair the van himself, he went out brought parts and fitted them himself. He then sent the parts purchase order invoice to boxvn and made them aware that he himself had repaired the van. They accepted it. However the following week we then had a invoice for the 9 days van rental when the van was actually off the road due to boxvn sending us around in circles. My partner has requested that they quash this charge as he did pay for the parts from his own pocket and it was not his fault that the van was off the road for so long it was their problem.Read more
