Description Thornhill Junior & Infant School, Dewsbury
The school provides a rich and stimulating curriculum which meets the needs of all learners. Year 6 pupils are able to take part in a residential visit each year and every class group has a minimum of two off-site visits each year. These range from a coastal visit to compare localities to visits to water treatment works.
In addition to the visits we take advantage of initiatives offered locally, eg all pupils helped to plant the school orchard and all pupils were able to pick and eat fruit from the trees for the first time in September 2008.
Visitors to school included actors, artists, musicians or members of the local community.
Extra-curricular activities in 2009 include:
• Street Dance
• Steel Drums
• Music club
• Greetings card company
• Choirs (boys and girls)
Ofsted 2009, ‘a rich broad and varied curriculum captures the interest of the pupils very well’
