What is Aromatherapy and Reflexology?

PostsPosted by Tina Sawhney Mon, March 28, 2016 14:45:23

Aromatherapy oils come from natural plant extracts which have healing properties.

WHAT IS AROMATHERAPY?
Aromatherapy is the use of organic essences of aromatic plants for healing and the maintenance of vitality with a body massage. Body massage is the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body by the hands to produce muscular, vascular and nervous effects. There are 5 classical movements in body massage which are effleurage, petrissage, friction, tapotement and vibrations. These movements will be used by the therapist when the client is being massaged. There is no substitute for the human hand. Hands can be used as a natural way of healing. The essences, or,’essential oils’, as they are commonly known are extracted from a wide variety of plants, and are very concentrated. Aromatherapy is a truly holistic therapy, as it aims to treat the whole person by taking account not only of their physical state but also their emotions, which can have a profound effect on general well-being. It works on the principle that the most effective way to promote health and prevent illness is to strengthen the body’s immune system; in so doing, it helps to restore the harmony between mind and body.

WHAT IS THE HISTORY OF AROMATHERAPY?
Knowledge of how to make use of the beneficial effects of aromatic plants developed gradually. By 3500 BC, the priestesses of the Egyptian temples were burning gums and resins, such as Frankincense, to clear the mind. The Romans used essential oils for massage, and aromatic herbs within the home.

In 17th Century England, pomanders made of Oranges and Cloves were used to ward off the Black Death. Great herbalists such as Culpepper used essential oils such as Peppermint and Rosemary as an integral part of their medicine.

Aromatic substances played important roles in the medicinal practices of the Hebrew, Arabic and Indian civilisation. But for the ancient Egyptians aromatherapy was a way of life. At about the time that the Chinese were developing acupuncture, the Egyptians were using balsamic substances in both religious ritual and medicine. Records dating back to 4500 BC tell of perfumed oils, scented barks and resins, of spices, aromatic vinegars, wines and beers all used in medicine, ritual, astrology and embalming. When Tutankhamun’s tomb was opened in 1922, many pots were found containing substances such as Myrrh and Frankincense, both derived from tree resins: these were used as much for medicine as for perfume, the two being interchangeable at the time.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF AROMATHERAPY?
There are many physiological effects of aromatherapy: The blood circulation is increased. Increased circulation brings nourishment and oxygen to the muscles and absorbs waste products. Waste product (lactic acid) formed in the muscles during strenuous exercise is re-absorbed and stiffness relieved. Development of muscle tone and elasticity can be promoted. Tense and short muscles are relaxed and stretched. It helps weak muscles and joints move more easily. Relaxation of tense muscles and improved tone in slack muscles can lead to improved posture, ie. For treating round shoulders.

There are many psychological effects of aromatherapy: Client feels rejuvenated and more able to cope with things. Beauty radiates from within. If you feel good, you look better and well. Brisk, stimulating massage will help the client to feel more alert. It gives overweight people an incentive to diet as they feel that the therapist is working on fatty areas, client will, in turn, try harder with their diet. In soothing aches adn pains, tension is relieved, the body and face will naturally be more relaxed, the client will look happier and younger. The luxury of a beauty salon with relaxing surroundings gives the clients relief from a hectic daily life and the opportunity to be pampered. Some clients feel inclined to talk out their problems or worries and this can relieve some tension in the client.

WHAT IS REFLEXOLOGY?
Reflexology is a form of, ‘Alternative’, or ‘Complementary’, medicine. It involves a method of treatment using massage to the reflex areas found in the feet and the hands. The ancient healing art of reflexology has been known to man for thousands of years. It was first practiced by the early Indian, Chinese and Egyptian peoples. In 1913, Dr. William Fitzgerald, an American ear, nose and throat surgeon, put forward the idea of, ‘Zone therapy’. Zones are longitudinal lines of energy ascending from the feet to the brain. Reflexology is based on zone therapy. When applying pressure to the feet, we are working on this basis, stimulating these lines which have a rejuvenating and healing effect on the entire human body. We have 10 zones, five on each foot representing 1,2,3,4,5, with zone 1 as the big toe and zone 5 as the smallest toe. The thumb is zone 1 and the little finger is zone 5.

Diagram of the Longitudinal Zones.

In the 1930’s, Eunice Ingham, a psychotherapist originated the first maps which charted the body onto the feet. She expounded the doctrine that all parts of the body could be affected by pressure on clearly defined areas of the feet, particularly on the soles. When you treat the big toes, there is a related effect in the head, and treating the whole foot can have a relaxing and healing effect on the body.

How Can Reflexology Help You?
The body has the ability to heal itself. After illness, stress, injury or disease, it is in a state of, “imbalance”, and important energy pathways are blocked, stopping the body from functioning well. Reflexology can restore the body’s equilibrium and encourage healing. Obstructions in the energy lines register pain, eg. stiff neck or a painful back. Obstructions also interfere with blood circulations and this is noticed mainly in the hands in feet. Hands become stiff, cold and painful. Waste products accumulate at the lowest point of gravity, which is clearly felt under the thumb and fingers as you work on the feet. There is no substitute for the human hand. The feet are really a mirror of the body. The condition of our feet and the way we use them reveals our physical and mental state and influences not nly their own performance but the functioning of our mind and body as well. Consultation with a chiropodist to remove hard skin and deal with corns and calluses prior to commencing reflexology treatment sessions is highly recommended.

TREATMENTS
6 Treatments are recommended for the therapy to work to its full potential. Have a course of 6 massages and you will get the 7th treatment for half price and this will need to be paid for by paypal. The therapist will send you a payment request by email to pay for the 7th treatment. When you first visit us you will need to go through a consulatation sheet with the therapist to verify that you do not have any contra-indications to the therapy that will be given to you. On your first session, you will need to arrive 15 minutes before your treatment in order to fill in the consultation sheet, after which the therapist will be going through this sheet with you. Please bring your doctor’s details with you when you come. We will not be contacting your GP without your written consent.

AFTER CARE ADVICE

Drink lots of fluids especially water and herbal teas for at least 12 hours after treatment. This helps to flush the toxins and stops dehydration for the client. Aromatherapy encourages lymphatic flow. The more you drink, the more your body flushes out its toxins. Avoid a bath or shower for 6 - 12 hours after treatment. It takes 3 – 4 hours for the oil to be absorbed into the skin. Do not have a sauna, steambath, sunbed or go swimming within 12 hours of having a treatment. This causes further dehydration. With swimming, chlorine can combine with the chemical of the essential oil and this can be toxic.

Avoid using a hairdryer for 6 – 8 hours after the treatment due to dehydration. This also can cause a build up of heat and this is not good for you. Cut down or cut out your tea, coffee and do not drink any alcohol on the day you have an aromatherapy treatment. Avoid strenuous exercise prior or after the treatment.

Do not have a heavy meal 2 hours prior to a treatment and 6 hours after the treatment. This is because if you have eaten, your digestive system is working at full steam and it takes time for food to be digested. This can cause you to feel sick if the therapist is working on your abdomen. Also the body cannot concentrate solely on detoxification if it requires the digestion of your food to be completed also.

Try to have a nice relaxing day. Do not go shopping. The treatment can cause toxins to build up which can cause a headache or nausea. Allow rest for 15 minutes after your treatment. Clients taking homeopathy remedies should contact the practitioner about the treatment. They can get advice from him. If you are taking any homeopathic medicines these may cause an irritation or a problem when the chemicals in the medicine become mixed with the essential oils that are absorbed into your blood stream. The same applies toany other medicines you are taking.

Take fresh fruit and vegetables. Avoid red meat. Drink 4 pints of water if possible to flush out the toxins from your body. Try to do some exercises especially stretching exercises as these are good for you. There are many alternative therapies that you may wish to try. Some examples are Chinese Herbalism, Homeopathy, Crystal Therapy, Bach Flower remedies, Feng Shui, Shiatsu, Acupressure, Affirmations and Visualilsations, Osteopathy, Chiropractic, Spiritual and Absent Healing.

The Alexander Technique is very good as it teaches you about posture; stand and walk with your back straight, sit with your back straight, pick up items from the floor by squatting which is bending your knees and then pick up the item keeping your back straight when doing this.

Post-nasal crisis; this is where you may suffer from nausea, headaches, stomach rumbling, runny nose, sneezing, runny eyes, skin might break out in spots cleansing the body, bowels may open frequently where you have to keep running to the toilet, feeling emotional after an aromatherapy treatment. This is where the body gets wors before it gets better. It is part of the h ealing programme where your body has to get rid of its toxins first and in doing so the above after effects may take place. However in a day or so you will feel much better. Please give the therapist feedback on how you felt about the treatment; after you have had it, 5 hours afterwards and then the next day how did you feel? This helps us to evaluate how effective the treatment was, and whether to change it to make it more effective.

I got Pass with Distinction for Diet & Nutrition Advisors Diploma

PostsPosted by Tina Sawhney Mon, March 14, 2016 21:15:28

My final assignment for my Diet and Nutrition Advisor Level 3 Course was, Write at least 1000 words on 'You are what you eat'. This was my reply.

I want to start with saying that, ‘You are what you eat’ means that to be fit and healthy you need to eat good food. So what are good foods and what are bad foods? Brillat-Savarin or Feuerbach stated that the food one eats has a bearing on what is one's state of mind and health. In the 1920s and 30s, the nutritionist Victor Lindlahr, who was a strong believer in the idea that food controls health, developed the Catabolic Diet. He stated that, "Ninety per cent of the diseases known to man are caused by cheap foodstuffs. You are what you eat." Foods to avoid in a healthy diet are fats and sugars. Foods that are good for us are fibre rich diets like bran, oats, muesli. One simple way to increase fibre intake is to power up on bran. Bran from many grains is very rich in dietary fibre. Oat bran is high in soluble fibre, which has been shown to lower blood cholesterol levels. Wheat, corn, and rice bran are high in insoluble fibre, which helps prevent constipation. They absorb water and are eventually excreted from the body. They provide many nutrients for our body. Fruit and vegetables also have fibre in them. Fats, proteins, vitamins and minerals are required in their desired levels every day and too little or too much causes diseases or illnesses. Diet does not mean eating to lose weight. It simply means eating the right types of food. These include eating the five a day which is constantly prescribed on the television and at GP receptions as well as on the side of buses these days. Each year the UK has a higher rate of obese people than before and this needs to be controlled to avoid the increasing mortality rates that occur due to this.

The five a day prescribed is made up of fruit and vegetables so it can be 3 fruits and 2 vegetables or 2 fruits and 3 vegetables but it does not mean 10 a day as an obese friend of mine seems to think. She eats 6 apples a day plus vegetables with her dinner she told me last week and I informed her that this is above the 5 a day health requirement. It is excessive for her daily needs. An average woman takes 1500 calories per day and an average man takes 2000 calories per day. Eating more than these requirements will lead to obesity. I told my friend that she can eat 3 apples per day though variation of fruits is recommended in order to attain the different nutrients offered by different fruits. She can have the balance of 2 vegetables on the same day as a salad or boiled vegetables with her meals. She said she works all day and cannot live without her 6 apples a day and she said to me how do I know what to eat when I myself am overweight.

I agree I am overweight right now and this is why I decided to do this Diploma in Diet and Nutrition Level 3 so that I can learn the facts about foods and learn to eat the correct way and become slim again. When reading about apples on this course it stated that excessive eating of apples is a craving for saturated fats which are meat pies, cakes, pastries, sausages. We crave the things our body is lacking in relation to nutrients. A craving for a food item is linked to what we are lacking in our body. Our body knows what it requires even though it seems our mind does not. An obese person may continue to eat junk food and cakes because they are addicted to food and they feel happiness in eating the food which they do not feel normally as being obese has its own problems of not being able to run, climb stairs without losing breath, their knees and feet swell up as they can no longer take their weight.

"Your eyes are bigger than your stomach" means that people tend to take more food than they can or should eat. I think this is true for a lot of people. I have chatted to many slim, fit people and asked them how they manage to stay slim, the answer is the same,’ I don’t eat sweets or oily foods and I love eating fruits. I like eating raw vegetables like carrots and celery. I do not eat chocolate or cakes’. There is your answer. Yes, there really are people like that.

The government has to pay using tax payers money for life threatening operations that occur every day due to obesity to save these people. In the past years the UK has suffered with food shortage and rations especially during the world wars that took place, bad hygiene as well as dirty environments and people would die much earlier than now. They were never fat during the world wars but they may die due to lack of nutrients required leading to diseases and illnesses. The average person would live to 40 years of age in 1800’s England. Now the average age to live in 2015 England is 81 years. This is continually rising due to better health and safety practices in the work, home, environment, medical advances, new drugs, medicines, cures to illnesses found.

Fats and sugars are good for you in the permitted amounts required per day but in the UK it is found that obesity is prevalent due to the high amounts that obese people intake of fats and sugars. They are found in pies, cakes, pastries, biscuits, fried foods like fish and chips, fatty meats, sausages. Some of these items can be substituted as in the case of having grilled fish and chips, grilled sausages, eating fruits instead of cakes and biscuits. This needs to be done from birth really as good habits stay with us if they have grown with us and the opposite applies for bad habits stay with us if they have grown with us. Children that lose teeth due to eating sugary foods and excessive acidic fruits or juices suffer as adults with dentures and having to get implanted teeth at a cost of thousands of pounds along with suffering decaying teeth and gums throughout life unless their food habits change.

You are what you eat is normally obvious from your body type. Appearance gives that one away. The 3 body types are thin, slim and fat. Ideally people should be slim as both being underweight and overweight leads to illnesses and diseases that can lead to death. Anorexia and bulimia are diseases that cause a person to become underweight and even die. Anorexia is where the person eats hardly at all and bulimia is where the person overeats and them vomits all the food out immediately after overeating. With both diseases, the body does not get the required nutrients. The person’s immune system breaks down and the person is unable to defend itself against colds and illnesses that the body fights off on a daily basis. Look at yourself in the mirror today and decide whether you want to make a change in your eating habits. When the mirror looks back at you, what does it say to you? Your eyes may be bigger than your stomach but the mirror speaks the truth. If you know someone who is anorexic or bulimic or perhaps you yourself are, when you look at that mirror, you may see a fat person in it when really you are underweight. Ask your friends or family to be honest and tell you whether you need to lose or put on weight. Even better everyone should see their local GP for a free health check from time to time and from there you will find out the truth also before it is too late. No-one should live in the dark with their health. You are what you eat.

What is International Women's Day?

EventsPosted by Tina Sawhney Tue, March 08, 2016 14:40:47

International Women's Day (IWD), originally called International Working Women's Day, is celebrated on March 8 every year. In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation, and love towards women for women's economic, political, and social achievements. Started as a Socialist political event, the holiday blended the culture of many countries, primarily in Europe, especially those in the Soviet Bloc. In some regions, the day lost its political flavor, and became simply an occasion for people to express their love for women in a way somewhat similar to a mixture of Mother's Day and Valentine's Day. In other regions, however, the political and human rights theme designated by the United Nations runs strong, and political and social awareness of the struggles of women worldwide are brought out and examined in a hopeful manner. Some people celebrate the day by wearing purple ribbons.

International Women's Day. "When women succeed the World succeeds. When women and girls thrive, entire Societies thrive." Hilary Clinton. WomenOnlyConnected.com has recently been described as 'An Amazing Network of Talented, Inspirational Women.' That's YOU! Today WE celebrate the talents, friendship, support and inspiration that you so generously share with each other. Today WomenOnlyConnected.com celebrates YOU! www.WomenOnlyConnected.com Enjoy the day!

Almost two-thirds of women in the UK have had unwanted sexual attention in public places, a survey by YouGov has suggested.

Out of 889 women asked, 64% said they had experienced some form of sexual harassment, with 35% saying they had suffered "unwanted sexual touching".

The survey was commissioned by the End Violence Against Women Coalition.

Sarah Green, the coalition's acting director, said sexual harassment was "an everyday experience" in the UK.

The survey was published by the coalition of women's organisations to coincide with International Women's Day.

The UN says it's a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities.

The theme of this year's day is "Planet 50-50 by 2030" - aiming to achieve global equality in areas such as education and end all forms of discrimination.

See this link: http://www.internationalwomensday.com/About

International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

International Women's Day (IWD) has been observed since in the early 1900's - a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies. International Women's Day is a collective day of global celebration and a call for gender parity. No one government, NGO, charity, corporation, academic institution, women's network or media hub is solely responsible for International Women's Day. Many organizations declare an annual IWD theme that supports their specific agenda or cause, and some of these are adopted more widely with relevance than others.

"The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights," says world-renowned feminist, journalist and social and political activist Gloria Steinem. International Women's Day is all about celebration, reflection, advocacy, and action - whatever that looks like globally at a local level. But one thing is for sure, International Women's Day has been occurring for over a century - and is growing annually from strength to strength.

International Women's Day timeline journey from 1908 till today......

1908
Great unrest and critical debate was occurring amongst women. Women's oppression and inequality was spurring women to become more vocal and active in campaigning for change. Then in 1908, 15,000 women marched through New York City demanding shorter hours, better pay and voting rights.

1909
In accordance with a declaration by the Socialist Party of America, the first National Woman's Day (NWD) was observed across the United States on 28 February. Women continued to celebrate NWD on the last Sunday of February until 1913.

1910
In 1910 a second International Conference of Working Women was held in Copenhagen. A woman named Clara Zetkin (Leader of the 'Women's Office' for the Social Democratic Party in Germany) tabled the idea of an International Women's Day. She proposed that every year in every country there should be a celebration on the same day - a Women's Day - to press for their demands. The conference of over 100 women from 17 countries, representing unions, socialist parties, working women's clubs - and including the first three women elected to the Finnish parliament - greeted Zetkin's suggestion with unanimous approval and thus International Women's Day was the result.

1911
Following the decision agreed at Copenhagen in 1911, International Women's Day was honoured the first time in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland on 19 March. More than one million women and men attended IWD rallies campaigning for women's rights to work, vote, be trained, to hold public office and end discrimination. However less than a week later on 25 March, the tragic 'Triangle Fire' in New York City took the lives of more than 140 working women, most of them Italian and Jewish immigrants. This disastrous event drew significant attention to working conditions and labour legislation in the United States that became a focus of subsequent International Women's Day events. 1911 also saw women's Bread and Roses' campaign.

1913-1914
On the eve of World War I campaigning for peace, Russian women observed their first International Women's Day on the last Sunday in February 1913. In 1913 following discussions, International Women's Day was transferred to 8 March and this day has remained the global date for International Women's Day ever since. In 1914 further women across Europe held rallies to campaign against the war and to express women's solidarity. For example, in London in the United Kingdom there was a march from Bow to Trafalgar Square in support of women's suffrage on 8 March 1914. Sylvia Pankhurst was arrested in front of Charing Cross station on her way to speak in Trafalgar Square.

1917
On the last Sunday of February, Russian women began a strike for "bread and peace" in response to the death of over 2 million Russian soldiers in World War 1. Opposed by political leaders, the women continued to strike until four days later the Czar was forced to abdicate and the provisional Government granted women the right to vote. The date the women's strike commenced was Sunday 23 February on the Julian calendar then in use in Russia. This day on the Gregorian calendar in use elsewhere was 8 March.

1975
International Women's Day was celebrated for the first time by the United Nations in 1975. Then in December 1977, the General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming a United Nations Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace to be observed on any day of the year by Member States, in accordance with their historical and national traditions.

1996
The UN commenced the adoption of an annual theme in 1996 - which was "Celebrating the past, Planning for the Future". This theme was followed in 1997 with "Women at the Peace table", and in 1998 with "Women and Human Rights", and in 1999 with "World Free of Violence Against Women", and so on each year until the current. More recent themes have included, for example, "Empower Rural Women, End Poverty & Hunger" and "A Promise is a Promise - Time for Action to End Violence Against Women".

2000
By the new millennium, International Women's Day activity around the world had stalled in many countries. The world had moved on and feminism wasn't a popular topic. International Women's Day needed re-ignition. There was urgent work to do - battles had not been won and gender parity had still not been achieved.

2001
The global internationalwomensday.com digital hub for everything IWD was launched to re-energize the day as an important platform to celebrate the successful achievements of women and to continue calls for accelerating gender parity. Each year the IWD website sees vast traffic and is used by hundreds of thousands of people and organizations all over the world to learn about and share IWD activity. The IWD website is made possible each year through support from corporations committed to driving gender parity. The website's charity of choice for many years has been the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) whereby IWD fundraising is channelled. The IWD website adopts an annual theme that is globally relevant for groups and organizations. This theme, one of many around the world, provides a framework and direction for annual IWD activity and takes into account the wider agenda of both celebration as well as a broad call to action for gender parity. Recent themes have included "Make it happen", "The Gender Agenda: Gaining Momentum" and "Connecting Girls, Inspiring Futures". Themes for the global IWD website are collaboratively and consultatively identified each year and widely adopted.

2011
2011 saw the 100 year centenary of International Women's Day - with the first IWD event held exactly 100 years ago in 1911 in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. In the United States, President Barack Obama proclaimed March 2011 to be "Women's History Month", calling Americans to mark IWD by reflecting on "the extraordinary accomplishments of women" in shaping the country's history. The then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton launched the "100 Women Initiative: Empowering Women and Girls through International Exchanges". In the United Kingdom, celebrity activist Annie Lennox lead a superb march across one of London's iconic bridges raising awareness in support for global charity Women for Women International. Further charities such as Oxfam have run extensive activity supporting IWD and many celebrities and business leaders also actively support the day

2016 and beyond
The world has witnessed a significant change and attitudinal shift in both women's and society's thoughts about women's equality and emancipation. Many from a younger generation may feel that 'all the battles have been won for women' while many feminists from the 1970's know only too well the longevity and ingrained complexity of patriarchy. With more women in the boardroom, greater equality in legislative rights, and an increased critical mass of women's visibility as impressive role models in every aspect of life, one could think that women have gained true equality. The unfortunate fact is that women are still not paid equally to that of their male counterparts, women still are not present in equal numbers in business or politics, and globally women's education, health and the violence against them is worse than that of men. However, great improvements have been made. We do have female astronauts and prime ministers, school girls are welcomed into university, women can work and have a family, women have real choices. And so each year the world inspires women and celebrates their achievements. IWD is an official holiday in many countries including Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, China (for women only), Cuba, Georgia, Guinea-Bissau, Eritrea, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Madagascar (for women only), Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Nepal (for women only), Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Zambia. The tradition sees men honouring their mothers, wives, girlfriends, colleagues, etc with flowers and small gifts. In some countries IWD has the equivalent status of Mother's Day where children give small presents to their mothers and grandmothers.

A global web of rich and diverse local activity connects women from all around the world ranging from political rallies, business conferences, government activities and networking events through to local women's craft markets, theatric performances, fashion parades and more. Many global corporations actively support IWD by running their own events and campaigns. For example, on 8 March search engine and media giant Google often changes its Google Doodle on its global search pages to honor IWD. Year on year IWD is certainly increasing in status.

So make a difference, think globally and act locally!
Make everyday International Women's Day.
Do your bit to ensure that the future for girls is bright, equal, safe and rewarding.

7 Things Cynics Don't Get About Psychics

PostsPosted by Tina Sawhney Wed, March 02, 2016 22:17:33

Photo of the famous cynic James Randi

Click this link to see this post: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/7-things-cynics-dont-get-psychics-william-stillman?trk=hp-feed-article-title-publish

There’s an infamous episode of the animated adult TV series South Park that purports to expose the deceptive tactics used by psychic medium John Edward in a cynical effort to debunk Edward and others of his ilk. As a psychic medium myself, I personally believe Edward to be authentic and very good at what he does, but I also appreciate healthy skepticism. I am, myself, quite skeptical. Not everything is something; and having been a practicing psychic since 2004, I have seen some folks go way overboard, in my opinion, by “psychic hopping” until what they hear suits them. But, as John Edward himself points out, there’s a difference between skepticism and cynicism. Skeptics are questioning but open-minded, while cynics have completely shut out any possibility of possibilities. I’d like to think I conduct myself with great propriety; in the time I’ve been working in this field, I have only encountered one person who was openly rude. But I am aware of the issues some of us deal with on a semi-regular basis (even John Edward, to whom we are indebted for taking all the hits), and I’d like to do my own debunking of those cynical beliefs from the psychic’s perspective.

Shouldn’t your services be free? Like you, we have channeled our God-given gifts and talents into a field that intrigues and interests us. And also because we need to eat too. Would you be willing to receive no compensation for your job? Many of us do gratis work as we are able to but, like you, we’re just trying to make a living doing what we know how to do. Please know that most of us set rates that are competitively priced but also fair and reasonable.

Why aren’t you rich? Because money is a man-made concept and, as much as we all need it to survive in our society, serving others comes first. True, there are some unseemly individuals posing as psychics who entrap gullible customers by scamming them of large amounts of money, but those are the frauds that give the rest of us a bad reputation. By and large, we are a humble group who simply desire to help, and could care less about trying to use our abilities to win the jackpot (besides, it doesn’t really work that way, even if we wanted it to).

Why aren’t you advising the President? If this were Biblical times, we just might be, as seers and prophets were often revered as credible advisers (although First Lady Nancy Reagan reportedly swore by her astrologer). Some cynics expect that we should dedicate our gifts to solving the world’s problems, and some of us may well be attempting just that. In our day and age, however, we are very much on a learning curve of acceptance when it comes to things considered paranormal. While many people are slowly becoming open and accepting, it will take more time to build a foundation of credibility until such time that the “paranormal” becomes “normal.”

Aren’t you just making good guesses? If we are, they’re darn good ones! Sit back and watch an authentic psychic at work through any number of videos posted to YouTube. While some may be more accurate than others, in my experience, there’s just no way anyone could make this stuff up and be that spot-on. Where psychic mediums are concerned, this kind of accuracy is called “evidential mediumship,” by offering verifiable detail unknown to the medium but known to the recipient. Indeed, it often appears there’s something more to it, emanating from the depths of the unchartered territory of unlimited possibilities.

Why can’t you connect me directly to my deceased mother? Because what we can offer is not an on-demand service, and is usually out of our control. It’s not as if we have a celestial remote that we program by punching in “deceased mother” and then press “go.” We understand that you have such expectations, but stop and think about the audacious position you are taking to presuppose the authority to command a loved one’s spirit presence to manifest at your whim. It doesn’t always work that way. Instead, please be grateful for what you receive, otherwise you might be blocked from hearing from loved ones other than your mom.

Don’t you just gather client information from social media? The scam artists might, but an authentic psychic doesn’t want to be influenced or tainted with any such information in advance of an appointment. I am fortunate enough to have others booking appointments on my behalf. When I follow up to make a reminding courtesy call, I only have the person’s first name and phone number—and that’s all I want, nothing more. If, during a reading, we require more information from you in order to connect the dots or complete an impression we are receiving, we’ll ask for it.

Why don’t all your predictions come true? Because you have free will, and because the world is ever-changing energetically, moment by moment. If a prediction resonates at the time, make use of it and exploit it to your best advantage by setting your intention to manifest it fully. Make life happen, instead of sitting back passively and expecting things to come to you. A prediction is a projection for possibility, requiring your effort and energy to push it forward in order to fulfill its promising prospect enough to accurately call it a prediction that came to fruition.

1st March 2016 has crept up on us and Spring is here at last. Time for us to start thinking about our oncoming Summer; a period of fun, frolicking and happiness both with our friends and family.

Hi, The photo of the tarot table above is my tarot table in my lounge. It makes me feel more spiritual, have calm within myself and the feeling of tranquility when I light up the candle at night-time using the oil burner with rose oil or a rose scented josh stick. Try this yourself at home. it will give you so much peace within yourself. Yes, rose is my favourite scent. What is your favourite scent? Last month I spent a lot of time writing posts for my blog. My posts reflected what was going on in my life and I would like to share them with you. Like myself you must have different moods that affect you throughout the month and you deal with them in your own way. My way is to put my thoughts into writing which is why I enjoy writing my posts for my blog. I want to share my finds with you. I get a catharsis by releasing all my inner thoughts onto a page of writing. Even when I was little I used to write a diary. Have you ever trying doing that; putting your thoughts into writing? In the past when we did not use computers so much we would ..........

Who was Albert Einstein 1879 - 1955?

PostsPosted by Tina Sawhney Fri, February 26, 2016 17:57:32

Click this link to see all the above 21 Inspiring Quotes by Albert Einstein: http://tarotcardsreader.co.uk/blog.htm

As a psychic tarot cards reader and counsellor I find the above 21 quotes so true. Albert Einstein was a German-born theoretical physicist. He developed the general theory of relativity, one of the two pillars of modern physics. Einstein's work is also known for its influence on the philosophy of science.

Albert Einstein, in his theory of special relativity, determined that the laws of physics are the same for all non-accelerating observers, and he showed that the speed of light within a vacuum is the same no matter the speed at which an observer travels.

Born: March 14, 1879, Ulm, Germany He died: April 18, 1955, Princeton, New Jersey, United States He was influenced by: Isaac Newton, Mahatma Gandhi, more His children were:: Eduard Einstein, Lieserl Einstein, Hans Albert Einstein He was also influenced by: Ernst G. Straus, Nathan Rosen, Leo Szilard

More Quotes: Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe. Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind. The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science. Albert Einstein: A life spent re-imagining physics- 18 March 1879. A free spirit is born.

Almost from birth, Einstein’s enquiring mind was developed by parents who encouraged his independence. Aged just four, they sent him out to explore the local area on his own. Aged five, his father gave him a compass to play with. He was captivated by the motion of the needle. This was the genesis of his interest in science. Much later, his theories would be used to explain that motion.

Discuss why you want to become a counsellor. What qualities and characteristics do you feel you have that will assist you in role as a counsellor?

PostsPosted by Tina Sawhney Fri, February 26, 2016 14:25:37

Click this link to see this post: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/discuss-why-you-want-become-counsellor-what-qualities-tina-sawhney?published=t

This is one of the questions I was asked on my final assessment for the Counselling Skills Diploma. I feel that the content of this post will help a lot of people understand what is required to become a counsellor. If you are impatient and cannot sit still long enough to listen to your friends problems then why should your friends listen to your problems? While listening to someone who is pouring their heart out to you means looking at that individual and showing full interest in what they are saying. It does not include looking at your mobile phone constantly or watching the television because something there looks more interesting.

Even worse it does not mean interrupting your friend pouring his or her heart out to you while you decide to make a quick phone call to someone or even answer a phone call. Tell me how many times have you done that? If this is true then you could not make a good counsellor nor a good friend. Caring and empathy is required when someone is down. I have had friends not prepared to listen and our friendship did not last. They showed that they did not care about me at all. Who needs friends like that? I think you will agree.

You may not have meant to ignore your friend when he or she needed you because you had so much on your mind and so many of your own problems but it is cruel to treat your friend when they most need you like that. Good friends are hard to come by. Don't be selfish. Listen to them and put that phone down and stop looking at the television when they are upset. The time will come when you need them and they are no longer there.

I am a Psychic Tarot Cards Reader since 2003. My background is BSc Hons Psychology (1990) and I was also a practising Aromatherapist and Reflexologist (VAI Diploma - 1999). I hope to have a Counselling Skills Diploma (2016) after completing this course today. I have always been interested in Psychology which is why I did the degree when I was 19 years old. I enjoy helping people with their problems. I initially wanted to become a psychotherapist when I completed my degree but I did not have the money to pay for this so I worked as a Lettings Manager for 23 years. I sold that business 3 years ago. However 1.5 years later a tragedy happened where my house burnt down and I suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I myself have had Cognitive Behavioural Therapy CBT and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and I felt that both these therapies have really helped me. I hope to use this basic counselling skills diploma in my tarot readings as some of my clients really need counselling also. All tarot readers are encouraged to have a background in counselling. I feel that I have learnt a lot on this course.

Syllabus: Definition of Counselling, Vocabulary of counselling, Listening skills, Counselling relationships, Motivation skills, Decision making, Grief & bereavement, Stress, Anxiety & Depression, Restoring self esteem, Eliciting self motivation.

Counselling is the provision of professional assistance and guidance in resolving personal or psychological problems.

BACP definition of counselling and psychotherapy. 'Counselling and psychotherapy are umbrella terms that cover a range of talking therapies. They are delivered by trained practitioners who work with people over a short or long term to help them bring about effective change or enhance their wellbeing.'

The BACP is a large organisation that many counsellors around the UK are registered with. They're not only a charity but also an accrediting body that set certain standards and codes of ethics for counsellors and psychotherapists to adhere to. British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy

Vocabulary of Counselling: Block, Body Image, Client, Client-Centred Therapy, Conditioned Response, Congruence, Cop-Out, Counselling, Denial, Empathy, Euphoria, Fantasy, Gestalt, Investment, Identification, Reflecting, Repression, Resolution, Role-Play, Solution, Strategy, Supervisor.

Listening Skills:

Giving the client full and undivided attention is defined as ‘Active Listening’, and it is an acquired skill, not a natural attribute. Active listening takes a great deal of concentration and energy in order to fully focus the attention to a client’s verbal expressions. There are several ways in which listening skills can be developed. Basically, if we have a reason to listen, and in consequence focus upon the client, then our listening will be more effective. The more interested and involved we become in the story which the client is relating, the more the client will want to share in greater depth.

Basic Interview Skills:

A number of tasks are necessary to conduct a counselling session in a humane and effective way. Since the initial interview is critical to future progress, extreme care needs to be taken to ensure that the necessary bonds are established between the client and counsellor at this first session.

The tasks are as follows:

1. Empathise with the client’s emotional state and situation.

2. Collect information related to the client’s problem.

3. Create a mirror in which the client can examine himself and his life objectively.

4. Provide information regarding other facilities that might act in a supportive capacity.

5. Search for motivational hooks that might serve to assist in the client’s recovery.

6. Serve as an ego surrogate to guide the client toward action.

7. Provide information about the adverse effect of negative-thinking on both mind and body.

8. Promote positive thinking.

9. Present a spirit of caring balanced with confrontation.

10. Provide hope.

THE COUNSELLING RELATIONSHIP: The more ambitious the goals, the more drastic and difficult the changes desired, the more profound this relationship must be. Clients come into counselling because they hurt; their pain, along with the relationship, provides the leverage for change.

The worst counsellors, and regrettably there are some who fit into this category, may deliberately seek a relationship that serves their particular goals. More often then not, they seem to ignore the issue altogether. The worst counsellors tend to put excessive faith in specific manoeuvres such as making interpretations, or following behavioural modification protocols. Such mechanised approaches to counselling almost always fail. These worst counsellors, regardless of theoretical orientation, are often described by their clients as “remote” – and the clients respond in kind by never becoming fully involved in the counselling process.

GRIEF AND BEREAVEMENT

• Analyse grief and bereavement listing the different forms/reactions to grief.

• Discuss the person’s feeling in the time of grief in either normal or violent

circumstances.

• Discuss the importance of how grief and the grieving person should be managed.

Bereavement is where one is deprived, robbed, stripped of, dispossessed of, life, hope.

Thus, grief is consequent upon something, some event or happening. It is the normal response to loss and its absence is indicative of psychopathology.

Another 7 Things Psychics Want You to Know

PostsPosted by Tina Sawhney Thu, February 18, 2016 09:26:12

See this link: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/another-7-things-psychics-want-you-know-william-stillman?trk=hp-feed-article-title-publish

This blog is a follow-up to my January 28, 2016, blog 7 Things Psychics Want You To Know. Here are an additional seven points to consider when seeking the consultation of authentic psychics:

We need your undivided attention. We desire to be of service to you and to maximize our time together without interruptions. Answering text messages or taking phone calls during your session is not only disrespectful of the process, it disrupts the rhythmic flow that was established between psychic and client. Worse yet, if one of your loved ones in Spirit was being channeled, retrieving a connection with that soul may not be feasible once the intrusion occurs. Please ensure that you are in a frame of mind that is open and prepared for your psychic session, free from distractions. My personal preference: turn your cell phone off for the duration.

Please let us do our job. Because intuitive information is channeled uniquely through each psychic, no two psychics work in precisely the same way. Some of us use devices as conduits, such as cards, pendulums, stones or crystals. Others use automatic writing or personal objects, such as a piece of jewelry or a photograph, to gather information. Because the psychic you saw on TV, at the beach, or at your sister’s house, operates using one method, it doesn’t mean others will follow suit. Please honor our individual style and approach, and allow us to do our thing.

Never say never. It never ceases to amaze me how many clients will refute something I’m saying, or even predicting, only to have them return to tell me that every word of what I said came true. Some of this may be attributed to “psychic amnesia,” that is, being oblivious to the obvious at the time for being nervous and anxious. Most people don’t have instant recall and need process time to connect the dots before arriving at an aha! moment. When we ask you to validate us, please be open, not dismissive, in your reply by saying something to the effect of, “Not that I’m aware of,” or “Not that I can recall.” This leaves the door of possibility open instead of shutting down the process by flatly stating, “Oh no, that’ll never happen!”

We can’t change you. A great psychic will see your potential and identify your strengths and talents in order to help you craft a plan for moving forward. This can be an exciting process, especially if you are reawakening gifts that are dormant or pursuing the fulfillment of dreams. But we can’t make it happen for you. If you are a procrastinator or are distracted and disorganized, it ain’t gonna happen—at least not with the acceleration it would if you commit with passion and drive. If you choose to acquiesce and take no action, you can’t complain to us about living a mediocre and mundane life. The direction you take is entirely up to you!

We can’t “fix” others. If your husband is a cheater, go to marriage counseling or divorce him. If your son is doing drugs, get him into rehab. If your daughter has an eating disorder, get her treatment. There are clear limits to what psychics can do for others, especially as remote third parties. If the affected individual wants a session with us, terrific—sign him or her up! We can offer him or her intuitive perspective in conjunction with an appropriate therapeutic course of action. But we can no more change him or her than we can compel you to alter your life. And it is a violation of spiritual ethics to ask that we “do something” to him or her from a distance and without his or her consent.

We aren’t all healers. Some of us have, as an adjunct gift, the ability to relieve others of the symptoms of physical pain and discomfort. Some, but not all, of us are able to do this through the practice of Reiki or another healing modality. This is typically not part of your psychic session, and would need to be scheduled as a separate appointment for a separate service at a separate fee. When booking your time with a psychic, enquire as to what the session will encompass so you have a sense of what to expect in advance.

We will not make unreasonable predictions. The vast majority of us work for the greater good of the highest order, through humility and service. This means that usually only positive and proactive information will be channeled through us for the purpose of educating your mind and feeding your soul. It will sully and belittle the process if you ask us when you, or a loved one, will die, or if you attempt to goad us into giving you winning lottery numbers. Spirit simply doesn’t work this way (and, trust me, you’d be miserable with all that money anyhow). Please ensure that your expectations are grounded in our philosophy of “do unto others…” and “harm none,” and relax and enjoy your psychic consultation.

Free High Resolution Tarot Deck

PostsPosted by Tina Sawhney Mon, February 15, 2016 17:43:59

Download my Free Tarot Cards Deck: https://fantasycards.wordpress.com/2013/03/20/free-high-resolution-tarot-deck/

Tarot cards are famous for being used by fortune tellers, but they were originally used to play games.

J W Gray created a high resolution tarot card deck using public domain images and some creations of his own. The main idea of the deck is that most of the cards are regular playing cards (Ace, Jack, Queen, King, etc.). A tarot deck technically uses a regular deck of cards plus 22 additional “trump” (major arcana) cards that have colorful images on them. The inspiration of this deck is that the regular cards look like the playing cards we are familiar with in the USA.

Trump cards

The trump cards look like the following:

The trump cards are from the Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot Deck, which is currently in the public domain in the USA. High resolution images of those cards can be found here.

Cavaliers

The difficulty in making the regular Tarot cards look like regular playing cards is that the regular playing cards only have four court cards (the Jack, Queen, and King):

The Tarot deck uses has 56 regular cards because it has four court cards (the Jack, Cavalier, Queen, and King). The masterpiece of my Tarot deck is my unique Cavalier cards:

I made these cards in a hope that they would blend in with everything else. The cards are made using the face of some French knight (chevallier) cards and the Jack cards. See the knight cards here: hearts, diamonds, spades, and clubs. The images for the other court cards (and the Ace of Spades) are in the public domain, and were created by Byron Knoll. The letters and the pip cards were created by Chris Aguilar who released his playing cards under a free GNU license.

The Joker card uses an image also in the public domain, which was originally found here.

Finally, I also included several “rule cards” to various combat-oriented card games that I’ve thought of. One of them requires tarot cards.

Chinese New Year 2016: Monday, February 8, 2016

Chinese New Year celebrations, also known as the Spring Festival, in China start on the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month of the Chinese calendar. The festival lasts for about 23 days, ending on the 15th day of the first lunar month in the following year in the Chinese calendar. What Do People Do?

Many people clean their homes to welcome the Spring Festival. They put up the red posters with poetic verses on it to their doors, Chinese New Year pictures on their walls, and decorate their homes with red lanterns. It is also a time to reunite with relatives so many people visit their families at this time of the year. In the evening of the Spring Festival Eve, many people set off fireworks and firecrackers, hoping to cast away any bad luck and bring forth good luck. Children often receive “luck” money. Many people wear new clothes and send Chinese New Year greetings to each other. Various activities such as beating drums and striking gongs, as well as dragon and lion dances, are all part of the Spring Festival festivities.

Public Life: The Spring Festival is a national holiday in China. Government offices, schools, universities and many companies are closed during the period from the Spring Festival Eve to the seventh day of the first lunar month in the Chinese calendar. Background

According to historical documents, on the day when Shun, who was one of ancient China’s mythological emperors, came to the throne more than 4000 years ago, he led his ministers to worship heaven and earth.

Symbols: The red posters with poetic verses on it were initially a type of amulet, but now it simply means good fortune and joy. Various Chinese New Year symbols express different meanings.

How can I improve my emotional health?

How can I improve my emotional health? http://familydoctor.org/familydoctor/en/prevention-wellness/emotional-wellbeing/mental-health/mind-body-connection-how-your-emotions-affect-your-health.html

First, try to recognize your emotions and understand why you are having them. Sorting out the causes of sadness, stress and anxiety in your life can help you manage your emotional health. The following are some other helpful tips.

Express your feelings in appropriate ways. If feelings of stress, sadness or anxiety are causing physical problems, keeping these feelings inside can make you feel worse. It’s OK to let your loved ones know when something is bothering you. However, keep in mind that your family and friends may not be able to help you deal with your feelings appropriately. At these times, ask someone outside the situation--such as your family doctor, a counselor or a religious advisor--for advice and support to help you improve your emotional health.

Live a balanced life. Try not to obsess about the problems at work, school or home that lead to negative feelings. This doesn’t mean you have to pretend to be happy when you feel stressed, anxious or upset. It’s important to deal with these negative feelings, but try to focus on the positive things in your life too. You may want to use a journal to keep track of things that make you feel happy or peaceful. Some research has shown that having a positive outlook can improve your quality of life and give your health a boost. You may also need to find ways to let go of some things in your life that make you feel stressed and overwhelmed. Make time for things you enjoy.

Develop resilience. People with resilience are able to cope with stress in a healthy way. Resilience can be learned and strengthened with different strategies. These include having social support, keeping a positive view of yourself, accepting change and keeping things in perspective.

Calm your mind and body. Relaxation methods, such as meditation, are useful ways to bring your emotions into balance. Meditation is a form of guided thought. It can take many forms. For example, you may do it by exercising, stretching or breathing deeply. Ask your family doctor for advice about relaxation methods.

Take care of yourself. To have good emotional health, it’s important to take care of your body by having a regular routine for eating healthy meals, getting enough sleep and exercising to relieve pent-up tension. Avoid overeating and don’t abuse drugs or alcohol. Using drugs or alcohol just causes other problems, such as family and health problems.Treat your mind and body. See this easy zumba class except it is kinda hard to keep up all the time: https://youtu.be/xzA3XgmKaGI This class has different groups doing zumba class for like 5 mins each so you get variety; all guys, all girls, all black girls, mixed groups, spanish girls and guys together. It is fun but I gave up after 10 mins. It is 30 mins long so see how long you can last dancing the hours away and getting fit.

Meditation for Beginners: 20 Practical Tips for Understanding the Mind
By Leo Babauta

The most important habit I’ve formed in the last 10 years of forming habits is meditation. Hands down, bar none: http://zenhabits.net/meditation-guide/

Meditation has helped me to form all my other habits, it’s helped me to become more peaceful, more focused, less worried about discomfort, more appreciative and attentive to everything in my life. I’m far from perfect, but it has helped me come a long way.

Probably most importantly, it has helped me understand my own mind. Before I started meditating, I never thought about what was going on inside my head — it would just happen, and I would follow its commands like an automaton. These days, all of that still happens, but more and more, I am aware of what’s going on. I can make a choice about whether to follow the commands. I understand myself better (not completely, but better), and that has given me increased flexibility and freedom. Meditation isn’t always easy or even peaceful. But it has truly amazing benefits, and you can start today, and continue for the rest of your life.

So remember to do zumba or yoga class whichever you prefer or both and meditation. This helps to balance the mind and body keeping it fit and healthy. One without the other means you cannot reach your ultimate goal. Our body needs a healthy mind and body. It is a suicide to give it one without the other almost like having water to drink to stop you from dehydrating and dying. The problem is that with time you will still die if you don't eat. Just think how long can the body survive with a healthy mind and an unfit body? Or visa versa a healthy body and a not so healthy mind; one which cannot relax or recover from the usual stresses in life. It is the balance which is necessary.

Do first impressions matter?

PostsPosted by Tina Sawhney Wed, February 03, 2016 15:05:44

Yes, first impressions do matter in all spheres of life, be it a job interview, meeting a prospective client, meeting your bank manager for the first time, and of course bumping into someone you may fancy. Having bags under your eyes or acne is not a good look. Use natural beauty remedies on your face to make it look its best for all purposes of life.

I actually came upon this topic recently when I did a small video after many years and my sister commented on the black circles under my eyes and how I have put on weight. She made no comment on whether my video was good or not in relation to the topic I was talking about but hey that's sisters for you. They only look at the bad bits and make sure they let you know them. It was then that I realised I need to take more care of myself. So here goes the research I did to enlighten those people who have not done a recent video of themselves.

Here are the top 10 ways to get rid of dark circles fast.

http://www.top10homeremedies.com/how-to/how-to-get-rid-of-dark-circles-fast.html

Dark discoloration of the skin under the eye is mainly referred to as dark circles. It is also known as dark rings or shadows.

Some of the main causes behind the formation of dark circles are heredity, aging, dry skin, prolonged crying, working for long hours in front of a computer, mental or physical stress, lack of sleep and an unhealthy diet. Both men and women of different age groups can have dark circles.

Dark circles are not a serious skin problem, but they make people look tired, exhausted, unhealthy and older. You can easily get rid of unsightly shadows under your eyes using some easy home remedies.

DIY Homemade Face Mask for Glowing Skin:

http://www.top10homeremedies.com/diy-homemade/diy-homemade-face-mask-for-glowing-skin.html

Do you wish you could have soft and glowing skin without spending a fortune on beauty products? Here’s a simple recipe for a homemade face mask that uses items you probably already have in your kitchen cupboard. The ingredients — extra-virgin olive oil, honey and baking soda — are really good for your complexion.

Both olive oil and honey have moisturizing properties that keep your skin soft and smooth. Olive oil penetrates deep into the skin, helping repair your skin, promoting elasticity and reducing blemishes.

Honey fights off bacteria, tightens your skin pores and protects your skin from sun damage and premature wrinkling. It also hydrates your skin and locks in moisture.

The baking soda works as a gentle exfoliating agent, reduces redness caused by breakouts and boosts circulation. It also helps treat acne and pimples by removing excess oil and dead skin cells.

How to Make a Detox Bath to Get Rid of Toxins from Your Body:

http://www.top10homeremedies.com/news-facts/how-to-make-a-detox-bath-get-rid-of-toxins.html

Heavy metals occur naturally in the earth’s crust. They enter the environment as harmful toxins due to activities such as coal burning, mining, smelting and a host of other domestic, industrial and agricultural undertakings.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), mercury, lead, arsenic and cadmium are among the top 10 environmental heavy metals most dangerous to human health.

You may not realize it, but you encounter those and many other toxins and heavy metals on a daily basis. You swallow them through the food and beverages you consume and inhale them through the air you breathe.

You also absorb them excessively from the environment through your body’s largest organ – the skin. Moreover, numerous products like deodorants, moisturizers and cosmetics that you apply onto your skin are laden with toxins.

Pick your cleansing routine for healthy blemish-free skinDermatologist-recommended methods to cleanse your skin:

http://www.thehealthsite.com/beauty/pick-your-cleansing-routine-for-healthy-blemish-free-skin/

Our face is our front to the world. While the body is all covered up in clothes, the face bears the brunt of exposure to sun, dust and pollutants. As a result, every evening when you return home there is a toxic layer of dirt and grime stuck to the upper dermis of your face. This dirt not only settles on the skin but also clogs the facial pores, causing long term problems. Clogged facial pores result in infection and acne breakouts. While most of us do wash our faces every evening, we do not realise that a superficial wash, which does wash out the upper layer of dirt, does not cleanse the pores of the skin.

If you desire a healthy blemish-free skin, daily cleansing is the first step to get it. Cleansing, toning and moisturising are the three essential components of skincare. If you do not cleanse your skin, you cannot treat it further with creams and moisturisers.

5 Quick and easy cleansing routines

Since most of us are too lazy to adopt elaborate skincare practices into our routines, here are five easy and quick cleansing routines that can be adopted in daily life recommended by Dr Chiranjiv Chhabra, Dermatologist, Skin Alive clinic, Delhi and NCR.

Oil cleansing: Using simple oils like castor oil, olive oil and even coconut oil for cleansing can do wonders for your skin. It is good for dry dehydrated ageing skin. Warm up a little oil, spread it on your fingers and massage it thoroughly across your face for few minutes. The oil will dissolve the impurities stuck on your skin and inside the facial pores while the massage will also help improve blood circulation. This will even remove makeup from your skin. Then use a soft towel, dip it in hot water and squeeze it to drain the water. Now leave this towel on your oiled face for few minutes and wipe thoroughly. This helps in deep cleansing facial pores and lifting the impurities. Here are 6 expert tips to shrink large, open pores.

Cleanse and scrub: A cleansing and exfoliation routine is another wonderful way to cleanse your skin. First wash your face with a face wash to remove superficial impurities. Then wipe cleanse your face with a cleansing milk to dissolve and remove dirt and makeup from deep inside pores. Now use an effective facial scrub on your face. You can use a professional product or even prepare one at home. For home facial scrub: Moderately ground masur dal or sugar which has fine granules can also work well as a skin exfoliator. Make sure you are not harsh on your skin while scrubbing. After gently scrubbing the face, wash it lukewarm water. Splash normal water in the end. This routine also makes the skin more receptable to further treatments like moisturising. Get glowing skin at home with this honey and coffee scrub.

Scrub with washing: If you are really busy and want a real quick way to cleanse your facial pores, add some fine sugar or ground masur dal into liberal quantity of your regular face wash and add a small quantity of a cream-based thick moisturiser to make a paste. Massage this combination all over your face in slow circular motions for 5 minutes before washing it off. Use this as a combination every 2-3 days to scrub and wash your skin. Here are 10 natural, home-made scrubs to get rid of dead skin cells.

Besan and turmeric: Besan and turmeric are two common kitchen ingredients which have been used as beauty products for centuries. Put together besan, and turmeric powder with rose water, aloe vera gel and a few drops of milk to make a paste. Apply this paste to your face, leave for a few minutes and then use wet hands to scrub this paste away. This acts as a combination of cleanser, toner and skin lightener. Besides being a skin lightener, turmeric also has antibacterial properties and helps prevent bacterial infections. You can also banish dandruff, acne scars, hair fall and more with methi or fenugreek.

Medi facials: A quick visit to a dermatologist once a few months can go a long way in preventing your skin problems. Medical facials are different from the routine facial massages offered at beauty parlours. They are medicinal skin treatments which are customised to your skin’s specific needs. An aesthetic physician will first examine your skin and then recommend the right medical ingredients to be used in your medi facial. A Cleansing Medi-Facial will include a gentle cleansing of your skin followed by gentle extractions of blackheads and whiteheads stuck inside and clean up the clogged pores followed by a ultrasonic or microdermabrasion treatment. They help improve blood circulation and scrub away the dead cells from the skin and leave the skin healthy and glowing. You may also want to read: Your dermatologist’s guide to manage open pores.

What is Valentines Day?

PostsPosted by Tina Sawhney Sat, January 30, 2016 03:52:55

Each year on February 14th, many people exchange cards, candy, gifts or flowers with their special “valentine.” The day of romance we call Valentine's Day is named for a Christian martyr and dates back to the 5th century, but has origins in the Roman holiday Lupercalia.

Valentine's Day, also known as Saint Valentine's Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine,[1] is a celebration observed on February 14 each year. It is celebrated in many countries around the world, although it is not a public holiday in most of them.

St. Valentine's Day began as a liturgical celebration of one or more early Christian saints named Valentinus. Several martyrdom stories were invented for the various Valentines that belonged to February 14, and added to later martyrologies.[2] A popular hagiographical account of Saint Valentine of Rome states that he was imprisoned for performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry and for ministering to Christians, who were persecuted under the Roman Empire. According to legend, during his imprisonment, he healed the daughter of his jailer, Asterius. An embellishment to this story states that before his execution he wrote her a letter signed "Your Valentine" as a farewell.[3] Saint Valentine's Day is an official feast day in the Anglican Communion,[4] as well as in the Lutheran Church.[5] The Eastern Orthodox Church also celebrates Saint Valentine's Day, albeit on July 6 and July 30, the former date in honor of the Roman presbyter Saint Valentine, and the latter date in honor of Hieromartyr Valentine, the Bishop of Interamna (modern Terni).

The day was first associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. In 18th-century England, it evolved into an occasion in which lovers expressed their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as "valentines"). In Europe, Saint Valentine's Keys are given to lovers "as a romantic symbol and an invitation to unlock the giver’s heart", as well as to children, in order to ward off epilepsy (called Saint Valentine's Malady).[6] Valentine's Day symbols that are used today include the heart-shaped outline, doves, and the figure of the winged Cupid. Since the 19th century, handwritten valentines have given way to mass-produced greeting cards.[7]

7 Steps to Becoming Psychic

PostsPosted by Tina Sawhney Sat, January 30, 2016 00:56:20

See his link: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/7-steps-becoming-psychic-william-stillman?trk=prof-post

As is true of any natural talent, some of us are born innately knowing how to access and utilize our gifts. Other gifts may be dormant, requiring our time and attention to hone and refine. As much as our talents may define our avocations and dictate our vocations, I firmly believe we all possess an aptitude for cultivating our unique and individual spiritual gifts. What follows are seven steps to consider when discerning one’s spiritual birthright.

Assess Your Motivation. So you think it would be cool to be the Long Island Medium and approach total strangers in your community with wow-factor insights you got from channeling their deceased loved ones. That’s reason enough to want to become psychic, right? Wrong! If your motivation is attention-seeking for wanting to be perceived by others as “special,” you’re starting off on the wrong foot. This work is not about impressing anyone or basking in adulation and accolades; it’s about desiring to serve others through humility as authentically as possible. We can’t completely rid ourselves of ego, but check yours at the door and you’re off to a good start.

Assess Yourself. As a psychic medium, my body is my instrument, much like an athlete in Olympic training. I need to maintain as clean and clear and pure a channel as possible through which authentic information may flow. For me, this means no lying or cursing, drinking only water, consuming a largely plant-based diet, and exercising every day. How prepared are you for being physically, mentally-emotionally and spiritually fit? Are there lifestyle changes or habits that need to be addressed in order for you to become a proper channel?

Acknowledge Your Higher Power. It doesn’t matter if you refer to it as God, Source, the Universe or Wonder Woman. Humbling yourself by recognizing that our world is not an accident and our existence is not happenstance is essential. Remember: it doesn’t come from you; it comes through you. Psychic work is a reciprocal relationship with the Higher Power. The more you raise your conscious awareness of the relationship, the more you will receive in terms of knowledge and understanding—not least of which is the comfort of feeling protected from evil energies.

Connect Daily. In order to be infused with spiritual information, you’ve got to get used to “opening up” to it on a regular—if not daily—basis. Doing this requires committing to spending time in solitude, whether it be reflection, meditation and/or prayer. If you are unaccustomed to doing this, make a good habit of setting aside ten minutes each day to express gratitude, and gradually build from there. Many of those who have the hang of this discipline for extended periods are those of revered spiritual standing: the rabbi, the nun, the monk, the yogi and the guru.

Know Your Guide(s). We all have at least one Spirit Guide—a formerly human soul, now in spirit, who has advanced to a position of guardianship and mentorship and is assigned to us uniquely, sort of like a glorified Jiminy Cricket. It is important to connect with your guides in the context of prayer to ward against anything nefarious slipping through to masquerade as a benign presence. Your guides are there to impress inspiration within you, direct your attention to opportunities and support you to advance spiritually. I couldn’t be accurate or authentic without mine.

Assess Your Gifts. As you begin to experience heightened awareness, based on the preceding points, pay attention to how you are receiving intuitive information. This will enable you to discern your spiritual gifts, and whether they function in a solitary way or by blending two or more attributes. Do you see things in your mind’s eye (clairvoyance)? Do you have the impression of hearing things (clairaudience)? Do you sense things without knowing why (clairsentience)? Or do you smell or taste things (clairalience and clairgustance)? Practice by testing yourself in the domains that are a match for you.

Inside-Out Approach. As you’re gaining momentum psychically, bear in mind that very few people are able to sustain themselves financially in this field. Just because you’ve amazed friends and family doesn’t obligate you to pursue becoming a professional psychic as a career path. This is not to discourage anyone from developing their spiritual gifts, but why not take an inside-out approach when applying them? That is, initiate your wisdom and positive influence over others beginning with where you are, whether that’s within your family, neighborhood or on the job. Bear in mind, not everything is something and not everyone welcomes having spiritual information foisted on them before they’re ready. Think in terms of simple and subtle ways to nurture others to see their own spiritual potential.

7 Things Your Loved Ones In Spirit Want To Tell You

PostsPosted by Tina Sawhney Sat, January 30, 2016 00:48:04

See his link: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/7-things-your-loved-ones-spirit-want-tell-you-william-stillman

As a psychic medium, I find that many of my clients struggle with attaining a sense of closure about their deceased loved ones. Here are seven of the most common themes. I have encountered in my work, as conveyed by those in Spirit who wish to quell, calm and soothe the concerns and anxieties of family and friends.

1. They are at Peace. I’m not sure why, but this is the number one priority for so many grieving families. Rest assured that your deceased loved ones are okay, hunky-dory, and doing swell. Why wouldn’t they be? You shouldn’t need a psychic to tell you what your faith alone should tell you: that your loved ones have successfully transitioned to the Heavenly realm and are exactly where they should be, reunited with those loving comrades and animals who passed on before them. On occasion, I’ll encounter an earthbound soul, or ghost, but that is a rare exception to the rule, and it is advisable to assume that all is well. (And that includes those who have taken their own lives.)

2. Please forgive them. If your deceased loved one lied, stole, cheated or was abusive, oftentimes their Spirit desires to explain that misconduct—not as an excuse but to grant perspective. It is common for that individual to have had a very challenging upbringing in which they, themselves, may have been victimized. Without proper support or intervention for poverty, child abuse or mental illness, they may have succumbed to addictions and self-loathing, or they may have become perpetrators of abuse themselves. Your forgiveness scores them spiritual points and breaks a cancerous cycle for the healing opportunity it offers you as well.

3. They forgive you. It is not unusual for a surviving family member to struggle with guilt over the passing of a loved one, especially if there was stress and tension in the relationship. Oftentimes, there was a fight or estrangement right before the individual passed. In other instances, surviving family may be second-guessing themselves, agonizing over whether they made the proper decision to remove someone from life support. Please known that in the Heavenly realm, no one harbors revenge, resentment or anger whatsoever. In fact, they have been granted new lenses through which to perceive their lives with 360-degree clarity in an atmosphere of unconditional love. So please, release and relieve yourself from the pressure of the burden and the burden of the pressure—for the sake of your own well-being and peace of mind.

4. They passed as intended. This is a really tough concept for the layperson to embrace, particularly if their loved one passed under sudden or tragic circumstances. Would that we could all transition peacefully in our sleep; but real life dictates otherwise. As part of the privilege of enjoying free will, we’ve all be assigned exit points, highway markers on life’s journey at which place we have the option of dying. Recently, during one of my psychic events, an eight-year-old boy with autism came forward in Spirit to discuss why he had drowned. He said it was either that or being hit by a car (for his impulsive habit of running into traffic without looking), and the water as simply too irresistible. Regardless of how someone passes, it is indeed all part of a preordained master plan; and their greatest desire is to be remembered for how they lived, not how they died.

5. They will not interfere. In my opinion and experience, I have found it to be a misconception that our loved ones in Spirit are around us 24/7 with immediate accessibility. If this were true, it could potentially become an unhealthy obsession for some fragile and grieving families. Instead, I have most often been shown that our loved ones are busy learning in a virtual university environment of sorts. For having been granted the previously mentioned 360-degree enlightened vision, they recognize that it is not for them to intervene or rescue us from our own learning opportunities, except in dire emergency. That’s not to suggest that we shouldn’t avail ourselves of our spiritual protectors in times of need, as we each have Spirit Guides and Guardian Angels assigned to us.

6. You can sell their stuff. Those souls who have successfully transitioned to the Heavenly realm have released their earthly attachments to material possessions. If maintaining or preserving items from someone’s estate is logistically or financially burdensome, please don’t feel pressure or guilt if you decide it all must simply go. Your loved one wants what is in your very best interest and if that means donating, bequeathing or profiting from their possessions, then so be it. You may wish to retain a handful of meaningful heirlooms to pass down in the family but items that range from trivial to great cash value may be disposed of without concern.

7. You’ll hear from them in time. A lot of folks lament that they have not received a “sign” from their dearly departed, whether it’s been six days, six weeks or six years. It seems this will alleviate their worries over whether someone is “at peace.” The truth is, it typically takes a good three to six months for a soul to get reoriented to the Heavenly realm after passing. And, honestly, most people are simply not ready prior to this for still grieving the loss. As such, a grace period of adjustment is necessary for all concerned. It may also be that the loved one in Spirit has been attempting to communicate but his or her surviving family isn’t making the connection. Pay attention to vivid dreams, and tangible signs that may come in the form of aromas or music associated in memory with the loved one, in addition to the unusual appearance of coins, feathers, birds, insects and animals.

These affirmations are intended to comfort and assure those who are grieving a loss. Our loved ones in Spirit appreciate us honoring their memory but very much desire for us to continue living our lives to the fullest.

7 Things Psychics Want You To Know

PostsPosted by Tina Sawhney Fri, January 29, 2016 00:38:56

I would like to share this post by William Stillman for clients to read as these are the rules I as well as most good psychics stand by. I think this post is an excellent read and will allow you as the client to realise what we can and cannot do for you.

See his post here: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/7-things-psychics-want-you-know-william-stillman

Here are some points to ponder when seeking the consultation of authentic psychics:

We can’t manifest a romance for you. Or a baby, or a job. But, we can offer you intuitive insight about the steps you should consider to achieve your goal, whether it’s lifestyle adjustments, surrounding yourself with the proper people, or furthering your education or training. Opportunities rarely drop in our laps without investing some intention and energy into making them happen! Whenever I’ve guided someone in the proper direction—and they’ve agreed and followed through—they are absolutely glowing with the contentment of having taken charge and self-directed their dreams. And things usually only escalate proactively from there.

We will not make major life decisions for you. This includes ending your marriage, leaving your job, terminating a pregnancy or even taking someone off life support. (Honestly, do you really want a stranger telling you what to do in these situations?) But, we can offer you options and choices based upon the intuitive information we are receiving, such as a “good, better and best-case” scenario. Ultimately, the rest is up to you and it is advisable that you also confide in people who know you best, such as family and friends, for advice.

Connecting with deceased loved ones is not an on-demand service. You may desperately want to hear from your beloved father who passed on, but the reality is you cannot simply dial him up at will. The truth is, going into a psychic reading with such tunnel vision may prevent you from receiving other healing messages that may come through. With me, you have to expect the unexpected, as I usually get the person you’d least expect to hear from who has stepped forward to express remorse and ask your forgiveness. Oftentimes, too, once the most pressing message is delivered, it opens a passageway for others to step forward—which may just include the very soul you’re anticipating.

You may not like everything you hear. This is not a reference to predicting death or tragedy—that’s not the style of authentic psychics. However, our role as intuitive counselors is that of an objective and impartial third party. We want you to succeed and be happy! If you need to clean up your act in order to get your life back on track, we are compelled to communicate just that. Remember: you will attract what you put out. You can’t expect sunshine and roses if you are a “Debbie Downer.” The best among us know how to frame such things in a compassionate yet diplomatic manner. After all, it could very well be just the tonic for what ails you. So, please be open to hearing whatever may come through knowing it is intended for your greatest good.

Information from one psychic may not match that of another. Among the wonderful things about being human is that we are as unique and individual as each individual is unique. Our spiritual gifts and talents will be channeled through us singularly, colored by our life experiences and what we’ve been exposed to. Receiving information from one psychic that does not align precisely with another does not mean that anyone is any less qualified than the other. There are other variables to consider, such as the unique channeling just described. Even if you returned to the same psychic the very next day, the information has a likelihood of being completely different based on your mood, events in your life over the past 24 hours, or shifts in the energetic field around you. Primary to realize, however, is that you possess free will to do whatever you wish with the information you are receiving and to employ it to your best advantage.

We’re not going to play “Stump the Psychic.” Your attempts to get us to say “the magic word,” such as naming your childhood dog or repeating your mother’s dying wish verbatim feels confrontational from the get-go, and may actually hinder the psychic process by setting up firewalls of skepticism. We are psychics, not mentalists. Information comes through us from Spirit, and you’ll get precisely what you’re intended to receive. Your fixation on wanting to hear the one thing that’s going to convince you it’s real will block you from hearing anything else relevant. Instead, relax and please be open-minded to whatever comes through. We’ll both have a great time for it!

There’s no such thing as a “Psychic Emergency.” If you are in a crisis situation and someone you know is a danger to themselves or others, do not reach out to a psychic for advisement; instead, please call 911, crisis intervention or some other community emergency response service. Consulting a psychic is one tool to support you in making proper and authentic life choices. One of my clients felt certain her volatile boyfriend was going to kill her. My reply was to reiterate the preceding roster of interventions. We have lives of our own, too, and are not on-call to micro-manage your life circumstances—this is unhealthy. In fact, I permit each client one, one-hour session per year. This disallows dependency while granting leave for any predictions to manifest. It is also important that you look within, not outside, yourself to build a spiritual confidence and resiliency of your own. When in doubt, and above all, have faith in your faith.

Happy Pagan New Year!

PostsPosted by Tina Sawhney Sun, January 03, 2016 18:28:35

HAPPY PAGAN NEW YEAR! 3rd January 2016

For many Pagans Samhain is the Pagan New Year. That feeling isn’t universal by any means, there are some Pagan groups that celebrate the “New Year” at Beltane, and I’d be willing to guess that there have to be at least a few groups who celebrate it at Yule. World wide there are dozens of “New Years” ranging from the well known Chinese New Year to the Buddhist Songkran April 13-15. Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year (always 163 days after Passover) and the Russian Orthodox Church holds to the Julian Calendar and celebrates the new year on January 14.

The Truth About NEW YEAR'S!

How did the celebration of New Year's Eve begin?

Why is the beginning of a year placed in the middle of a dead winter?

And where did the many customs surrounding it originate?

by William H. Ellis [The Plain Truth - December, 1964]

MOST people carelessly assume that celebrating New Year's Eve is a Christian custom.

But did the practice of "waiting the old year out" really come from the Bible?

Is January 1 the true beginning of a new year? Who has the AUTHORITY to determine when a new year begins?

An Ancient Pagan Custom

New Year's is one of the oldest and most universal of all pagan TRADITIONS! The custom of celebrating it has remained essentially unchanged for 4,000 years!...........

See my video Psychic Tarot Reading on a Client

PostsPosted by Tina Sawhney Sun, December 06, 2015 19:48:50

See my video Psychic Tarot Reading on a Client: https://youtu.be/kj0M-3mDo4w

I did this tarot reading on a client in 2010. For privacy sake I will call my client Tricia. She does not show her face as she does not want anyone to recognise her. Tarot readings are private. Tricia does not want her face and private life exposed. This video is however enjoyable to listen to. I can guarantee to you that you will want to listen to it all to the end as it is about 9 minutes long. Can you have all your problems answered in 9 minutes?

As a tarot reader we have a great responsibility to our clients. It takes a lot for you to tell a psychic your problems and ask them how to overcome them. As a psychic tarot reader I not only use the tarot cards but I use my degree in Psychology to give the answers. I studied counselling as part of the degree. Compassion, understanding and a neutral point of view to beliefs is necessary.

After I have done a tarot reading on someone whether it is for 9 minutes or one hour I am exhausted. It drains the energy from my body as I try to meditate and synchronise with the spirits on the other side. We all are able to do this if we divert our attentions to the problem at hand. Most of us do not have the time or inclination to put our heart and soul to sort out our issues but instead want to blame something else. Look to yourself first as you are not immune to being wrong in the situation concerned. Of course outside factors may be more to blame but trust your intuition to give you the answers. If all fails, then look to see a spiritual person like myself to help you to get the answers to your questions. True psychics are not here to take your money. We really do care. I want whatever is hurting inside you to go away.

On many occasions I am asked to do a reading for free. Note that to expect a tarot reader to do a reading for nothing is just being ungrateful. We normally have no other income and if we were not helping you we would be doing a 9 to 5 job in an office or similar just like you. We also have to pay our bills as no one provides us with free accommodation or food. You will however find that our email readings are usually very cheap. I offer a 3 question email reading for £10 and if you subscribe to my newsletter you get £5 off your first tarot cards reading. For £5 the issues that are troubling you in your life may be answered by your 3 questions email. If you need longer then expect to pay more as you are taking more of my time. Do listen to the video as it will give you an insight to how my tarot card readings work. Psychics do readings in their own way. We do not do readings in one specific way. We need to find what works for us.

The Pagan Roots of Halloween
Are the specific customs of Halloween related to pagan beliefs?

Since Halloween itself originated in paganism, it is not surprising that its customs are related to pagan belief. According to the Encyclopaedia Britannica. In ancient Britain and Ireland, the Celtic Festival of Samhain was observed on October 31, at the end of summer. The souls of the dead were supposed to revisit their homes on this day and the autumnal festival acquired sinister significance, with ghosts, witches, goblins, black cats, fairies and demons of all kinds said to be roaming about. It was the time to placate......

What is Tarot?

PostsPosted by Tina Sawhney Tue, December 01, 2015 17:24:00

The tarot is a deck of 78 mystical cards. There are 22 cards that form the Major Arcana and represent individuals who personify a particular quality or archetype. The 56 cards of the Minor Arcana represent events, people, behaviour, ideas and activities that go on in our lives. For hundreds of years the tarot has been one of the most important Western mystical pathways for fortune-telling, divination and self -development. With connections to alchemy psychology, astrology, numerology, Kaballah, Christian mysticism, Eastern philosophy and many other esoteric traditions, the tarot is available to everyone. It is a mirror of the human soul.

Tarot is not 'spooky', nor is it 'evil', unless the person who uses it choose it to be so. The tarot is beyond our projection of good and bad and only reflects the energy of the moment and the reader. But we can project our goodness and badness onto it too. Using the tarot is a way to open yourself up to inner wisdom and hidden knowledge

Due to the Church's fear of anything esoteric that smacked of the occult, tarot became associated with the darker occultist arts, which is why people are often afraid of its power. Tarot is a symbolic pathway you can walk along on at any moment in life to see the truth about yourself 'through the looking-glass'. It is simply a series of stepping stones or secret pathways to self-discovery. It is a mirror to the self.

Tarot cards are mirrors of our emotions, feelings, soul and being. They are like reflections on a pond where the visual images remain the same but vibrate with ripples caused by natural energies like the wind. Tarot moves with you, so that you can work with life, not against it. The tarot provides a mirror image of ourselves at the moment we choose to look at our reflection. It is the past, present and future.

Tarot is about self-understanding and psychological growth. It provides an instant and direct way to understand the rhythms or patterns at work in your life.Uncannily, the tarot seems to 'predict' patterns or events that are about to happen. This may be our unconscious follow-up reaction based n the tarot's imagery at the reading. We often want a signpost to a decision, or a confirmation of our doubts or belief in a relationship. The tarot can give us clues to the sort of day we might have, or who we might fall in love with. The cards reflect our own hidden desires, actions and goals. It can also help to develop our own self awareness so that we can make conscious choices, understand the reasons behind a situation or give guidance as to the next stage of our personal life journey.

In fact, the tarot is all about you.

Can stress kill you?

PostsPosted by Tina Sawhney Tue, December 01, 2015 16:55:53

Stress is your body’s way of responding to any kind of demand or threat. When you feel threatened, your nervous system responds by releasing a flood of stress hormones, including adrenaline and cortisol, which rouse the body for emergency action. Your heart pounds faster, muscles tighten, blood pressure rises, breath quickens, and your senses become sharper. These physical changes increase your strength and stamina, speed your reaction time, and enhance your focus.

Stress can be caused by a physical or emotional change, or a change in your environment that requires you to adjust or respond. Things that make you feel stressed are called “stressors.” Stressors can be minor hassles, major lifestyle changes, or a combination of both.

I have watched interesting programs like The Restoration Man and Grand Designs where I believe the home owners who bought those run down properties experienced a lot of stress to build their new homes. They built them making them architecturally brilliant or they updated a dilapidated Listed building. A listed building is a building or structure which is protected because it is considered to be of special architectural or historic interest.

When the home owners ran out of money during the project which happened on many occasions you would see them struggle to get the monies required to complete the project. Banks gave an approved mortgage before the build where it was agreed they would give money according to the amount of building works that were completed but then decided to withdraw the monies when due during the build.

Some of the owners literally had a heart attack during the project. Whenever I watch these programs I anticipate that there will be a moment during the film that the home owner shows signs of stress and getting ill from attempting the build of his or her new home. Of course some of these home owners had other illnesses which could trigger the heart attack but the stress just made it more likely to happen.

One of the most stressful things in life are moving home. I think it takes a lot of guts for these people to start such a big project when with the same money they could have bought a ready made home perhaps one which is smaller but still a ready made one all the same. We have one life and when we are gone we cannot enjoy what we have left behind. Is it worth all the hassle? I wonder whether it is better to spend that money in another way like taking a boat cruise or travelling around the world. I believe on reflection that we all need to look after ourselves physically and mentally more.

We should pamper ourselves more as this alleviates stress by having an aromatherapy massage or reflexology massage. I know this because I am qualified with VAI Diploma- 1999 in Aromatherapy and Reflexology and when I have felt personally stressed I get these treatments done to me. Spending money to pamper yourself outweighs anything else as no matter how much you spend on your new rebuild for example if you do not relax you could make yourself sick.

We always want to achieve more and more in our life. The richest usually want to buy bigger better homes than they have already but then if they never have children who would those wonderful homes go to when they die? I guess that most of us have relatives it can go to but all that work and energy to what avail? Our relatives will probably just sell it?

In the case of Graceland which was the home of Elvis Presley, after he died in 1977 neither his daughter nor his ex wife live there. It is now a museum.

Graceland is a mansion on a 13.8-acre (5.6 ha) estate in Memphis, Tennessee that was home to Elvis Presley. It is located at 3764 Elvis Presley Boulevard in the vast Whitehaven community about 9 miles (14.5 km) from Downtown and less than four miles (6 km) north of the Mississippi border.[5] It currently serves as a museum. It was opened to the public on June 7, 1982. The site was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on November 7, 1991, and declared a National Historic Landmark on March 27, 2006. Graceland has become one of the most-visited private homes in America with over 600,000 visitors a year, behind the White House[6] and Biltmore Estate.[7]

Elvis Presley died at the estate on August 16, 1977. Presley, along with his parents Gladys and Vernon Presley, and his grandmother, are buried there in what is called the Meditation Garden. A memorial gravestone for Presley’s stillborn twin brother, Jesse Garon, is also at the site.

I talk about Elvis Presley as an example of the pointlessness of creating too much stress for yourself to then die and not enjoy the fruits of your work. What Elvis Presley earned went to charities and his family. He died at 42 years old of a heart attack. Elvis Presley did not die of a heart attack due to the stress of having Graceland but due to his own demons which were drugs, overeating and I believe losing his wife and child as his wife Priscilla divorced him many years before he had the heart attack. Elvis also suffered from insomnia which causes stress so there are many factors that can lead to stress build up.

It is not rocket science to realise that we all want more in our lives and are never content with what we have. If only we could change this pattern of thinking in the world. If we earned a lot of money we should think of the poor and needy whom we could help before buying that amazing manor or castle for ourselves. When Elvis Presley died he had $6 million to his name as he kept giving his money away.

Stress is a normal part of life. Many events that happen to you and around you, and many things that you do yourself, put stress on your body. You can experience stress from your environment, your body and your thoughts.

I conclude myself that stress can kill you. But if you don’t agree, when you get stressed and start hyperventilating think of how far you are from having a heart attack? Take care of the physical and mental side of yourself and try holistic therapy which treats the individual’s body, spirit, and mind. You may cheat death in this way but note you can not cheat death forever as on-going stress only makes a person more and more ill until it is too late. Look after yourself now and remember stress is not age related.

Death can happen to anyone at any age as it brings on the same symptoms. I had a good friend David who died at 35 years old due to stress and over working. He was not sleeping for many nights in a row working hard as an electrician to reach his goal. Stress does that. It makes you have sleepless nights, worrying about the problem at hand. My friend died before he could reach his destination. He had other issues. His wife left him saying she did not love him and kept the family home. She had custody of their son. David threw himself into work. I never saw him drink or smoke. I believe he was very sad inside. I could see that in his eyes when he spoke about his son and how he still really loved his wife.

I was not a psychic tarot cards reader at that time as I had just graduated with my Psychology degree and was trying to start up a new business in lettings. If only I had known then what I know now maybe I could have helped David to improve his life style and advised him to see a doctor or therapist before it was too late. I was 21 years old and had little understanding at that time of the real world. I was really immature and trying to understand the meaning of life which is probably why I studied Psychology in the first place.

I made many mistakes myself in my young years just from lack of experience of life. I never let stress dominate my life however and I would get stressed many times. Thinking back now I knew that David would work 3 days in a row without sleeping and that should have been a sign that he was not respecting his health and wellbeing. No extra money earned is worth lack of sleep. David would do this on most of his jobs. Normally we all work an 8 hour shift, rest and then sleep 8 hours. I could never have known that David would die.

Stress is a silent killer.

Why did my partner cheat on me?

PostsPosted by Tina Sawhney Tue, December 01, 2015 16:44:53

The worse thing is when we don’t understand why our partner cheated on us? After all, didn’t we do everything to make them happy. There can be many reasons for the cheating taking place. I will give you some suggestions. Perhaps your partner just wants sex because they are addicted to it. Strange but there are people that have sex addiction and need therapy to help them control it. A bit like alcohol addiction. We do not know what is in the mind of another person, isn’t it?

Then there is the fact that they may be fickle and they want someone more attractive. So what do you do? Lose weight, make yourself more attractive. But is it worth it? Only you can decide. You may or may not ever reach their high standards. You may just be time pass anyway.

Perhaps your best friend has been visiting you more than they probably should and especially when you are not at home. So you would not doubt your best friend, would you? Wrong. Don’t put temptation in temptations way. That’s the rule I live by. I have been stung too many times. Of course you can see your best friend but no need for them to hang with your partner when you are not around especially. Tell your partner when you are not in to tell your best friend or any friend that visits that they would pass on the message that they came or they can just call you and see if you are local.

Are you too clingy? Who likes a clingy partner? Lol. So don’t be clingy then. Give them their freedom. That saying does have some truth in it. If you love something set it free. If it comes back to you its yours. If it doesn’t, it never was.

The obvious answer is that your partner does not love you. Of course falling out of love isn’t always the reason for someone to cheat. But if they want more, then it is not in your hands. It is the power of destiny. You are also destined for something better if they don’t love you since you are wonderful, remember that.

You may find a post I have written enlightening: “How do you know if someone you love is using you?” https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/how-do-you-know-when-someone-love-using-tina-sawhney?trk=prof-post

So what do you do when you find out your partner is cheating? Let me guess. Go crazy? Wrong answer. Let it go. Remember it is how your partner feels. Your screaming and shouting will not solve the problem though it might make you feel better. Haha. In fact I know it will make you feel better. But to keep quiet is harder. Just go silent. Do not bother with your partner any more. Get on with other things like hobbies or going out more. Just don’t be there when they need you.

Revenge is not worth it and you know they are not worth all that mad angry energy you could exert. Let it be. Start moving on quietly with your life like a snake in the grass. Isn’t that what they were? No that is not revenge. I call it trying to make a better life for yourself without all those bad energies. Don’t you want to be happy and have a peaceful life full of good things. You cannot get that with revenge and madness.

What I suggest is not easy but your partner may come to realise your worth if you do this and if not it means they are not the one for you. Your dream partner may be still to come and it is normal to meet a few bad eggs on the way.

Tell them to leave once you find out they have been cheating if you wish or just let them stay with you. The choices you make do not belong to anyone else. It is not their life. I am a psychic tarot cards reader since 2003 and in my tarot card readings for customers I have come across a lot of things.

My own personal experiences are vast. I would have preferred them not to have been so as it is very painful when your partner cheats on you. It is hard when you are hurting inside. Talking to a good friend or even a psychic helps. That good friend must be trustworthy and that psychic had better be good as there are some fakes out there along with fake friends. Family is good to get advice from but remember when you are hurting inside so are they so is it worth upsetting them? You will get over this bad patch. It is called survival of the fittest.

What are gut feelings?

PostsPosted by Tina Sawhney Tue, December 01, 2015 16:31:52

So what are gut feelings? Intuition allows you to get the first warning signs when anything is off in your body so that you can address it. If you have a gut feeling about your body — that something is toxic, weak or 'off' — listen to it.

There are many things we do not understand like gut feelings, psychic phenomena, ghosts, poltergeists, the dead which have left us, why the living treat us the way we do, partners and how to be with them. Last night it was 11pm and I was quite tired. My partner had gone to sleep when I heard someone upstairs. I jumped when I heard movement like someone walking upstairs and about the house. But all the doors were locked. I then went around to see if any were open. I was shocked to find that my back door to the garden was not locked and still had the key in the door so I quickly locked it. Then I was afraid that it was too late. Someone may be in the house. I went upstairs to find no-one there.

I wondered whether my guardian angel had pre warned me that someone would have come in the night if I had not realised and locked the back door. I always lock the doors but I must have forgotten that one door. I usually never forgot. This has never happened to me before. I knew that I had been warned by the other world. Just in time. I had even heard movement in the garden last night when I heard that noise and things seemed moved when I looked this morning at the garden. It was not gut feelings as normally I never check the doors and certainly do not hear that noise upstairs. I did actually hear a noise last night outside.

We will all find that we are given signals in our life by the other world to help us in this present life to make the right decisions. It can be in the form of gut feelings but also like I heard strange noises upstairs in my house also last night. There was no-one upstairs but why did I hear that noise. I believe that noise was made deliberately by my guardian angel causing me to go upstairs and around the house to check all windows and doors were shut. Listen to that world. We miss things in life otherwise. You can avoid disasters if you listen to that sound inside your head telling you what you should do.

We all have some psychic powers if we can connect with them. Too busy to listen to the signs, either running around, working, cooking, watching kids, visiting people, travelling. We do not notice things. Silence and meditation can help us hear those signals and sounds. Self help books can also help us make the right decisions. Reading is so empowering and teaches us so much. I have spent most of my life reading books and trying to understand people. But we are all learning about people, aren't we, all the time?

Is becoming a tarot reader satisfying and does it make mega bucks?

PostsPosted by Tina Sawhney Tue, December 01, 2015 16:05:26

I started reading tarot cards for people in 2003. Before that I was mystified by what tarot cards were and how they came to be. I once did a ougie board after school in the classroom with a group of classmates when I was 12 but the board spelt out goat meaning the devil and us kids we all ran out of the classroom scared witless. None of us ever contemplated doing that again and I am glad as by us children innocently playing the ougie board we could have unwittingly brought evil spirits to hound us in this world. We got off lightly. I never did that again! I would get tarot readings done by different fortune tellers when I was at college or studying to be a graduate and then even after that. I was fascinated by divination and the occult but too scared to learn to do tarot readings myself and plus I did not think I had the skills to do it.

A few years before 2003 I started seeing one tarot reader. She was very good. I could never understand how she knew what was coming ahead of me in my future as my past was a mixture of things that had not made me happy. I wanted to move on but did not know how to. She taught me how to do tarot readings as she had prepared lessons to learn tarot that all her customers could buy. My profession in my twenties was a Lettings Manager in London and I did that for 23 years. It was very difficult managing tenants and property maintenance so after spending half my life doing that I decided I had had enough and packed that in. I sold up shop and moved on.

I decided to put my heart and soul into my tarot readings which was what I started with actually as I did my degree in Psychology. I was always interested in this field. I had worked with elderly and mentally retarded and handicapped children and adults before I worked in the letting field. Building a business is never easy especially when you do not have the background for it. I should have studied business management to degree level or learnt to become a programmer as it seems nowadays that is where the mega bucks are apart from the accountants, lawyers and the usual NHS profession which none of us can live without. If you are thinking whether you should learn to become a tarot reader or not I would say the answer is yes as it is highly rewarding. You will get to meet and speak to many different types of people with varied problems.

Some are obsessed with their careers and getting to the top and some just want a family and not much more. Then there are those who have suffered a tragedy in their lifetime like myself but we all get through it as it is survival of the fittest after all. I am a survivor and I think you are too because you are reading this. Coming back to the question: Is becoming a tarot reader satisfying and does it make mega bucks? I have found becoming a tarot reader very satisfying as I have helped many people get back their pride and self esteem and are able to move on with their life leaving the bad times behind. This includes following the right career pathway as well as the correct passage to love.

There are evil powers trying to pull us down throughout our life and the angels of heaven pull us out. I am sure you have all experienced a deja vu experience where we see something and recognise that we had already seen that event either before or in our dreams. Making mega bucks is not why I decided to become a tarot reader and if you think like that then you can never be a good tarot reader. Remember the reason why you wanted to learn to do tarot readings. You can make mega bucks if you diversify and get other psychics to do your work and take a commission from each booking or you can dwell on writing your own ebooks of knowledge and on learning how to do tarot readings, writing blogs and writing articles constantly for the newspaper or other media so you are picked up by many new customers. Can you put in the hard work to make the mega bucks?

I wrote this to make you think whether this is the pathway you want to take? It is not easy to make a lot of money in this field without putting in years of hard graft. It takes a long time also to learn the meanings of the 78 tarot cards in a tarot deck and then to apply the knowledge to real customers. I studied the Rider Waite Tarot Cards as this is my favourite deck. You need to spend a lot of quiet time in a kind of semi meditation state. You must open your mind to the cards and fathom out the story the cards are trying to tell you. I wanted to rock your world and make you realise that I really enjoy reading tarot cards for people and I want you to enjoy it too. I would say to everybody give it a shot if you enjoy helping people.

We are well aware that the body needs help when we are ill or when we get old. But what about the mind? It also needs consoling and counselling. Some people are able to manage this aspect themselves whereas there are others that don't trust their intuition or gut feelings to follow what is so clearly the right pathway. I would not call the latter weak but I would say that those people have intentionally decided to find out what is the right pathway to take? So which is better? Both are correct as they are leading their life the way they feel best.

Learning to read the tarot cards are like learning a new language. It is a language of pictures and the tarot reader is assessing meanings to the pictures and relaying it back to the querent to make them understand what the cards are trying to tell him or her. In answer to my question: Is becoming a tarot reader satisfying and does it make mega bucks? Tarot reading is a personal thing so I can only speak for myself. I find it very satisfying and no it does not make me mega bucks but then I did not go into doing this to make big money. I would like to share my knowledge and powers to help people. We come into this world with nothing and we leave this world with nothing but memories of us remain. What type of a legacy would you like to leave? I would hope to be remembered for what I gave back to this world.

How do you know when someone you love is using you?

PostsPosted by Tina Sawhney Tue, December 01, 2015 15:52:26

With the increasing rise of divorce and single parents in all parts of the world, we should learn the recipe to happiness. Some people may know the recipe to happiness which is wonderful but what about the rest of us? How can we protect ourselves from a broken heart? Who am I to say I know the recipe? I don't.

I can only guide you to avoid you being caught in the hands of a fraud. There are so many people out there trying to get our money, get leave to stay in the uk by marrying a British Citizen. The demand for this is so high that the fraudsters feel nothing for you but will do anything to get what they want including pretend they love you, shower you with gifts and sweet words until they get what they want. After that you are nothing and they walk out without even looking back at you.

You were nothing to them from the beginning. Just a tool to get from A to B. Do not believe that you are so special that they love you and only love you. Of course some may be genuine but when you are in love you do not see what is in front of you. Listen to what others are saying including your family. They can usually see the real thing; the live performance in front of their eyes. But you know what, we are always right, isn't it?

So now to the answer to this question: How do you know when someone you love is using you? Unless you spend a lot of physical time with your partner or friend they cannot love you. The number of hours you spend together are vital. I understand quality is important too but in relationships a bond cannot happen without the physical time spent. This is my experience of love. There will be many out there to disagree with me but I know that you can not love someone by not being with them and just being on the phone all the time for example. Distant relationships can work if the 2 people have spent a lot of time together before being parted. Remember that after being parted, distance can always cause a barrier to the relationship blossoming also. They say distance makes the heart grow fonder. That is true too but not so much distance that you do not see other for months on end and the other person takes consolation in someone new who lives nearer to them. Of course this depends on the strength of your love with that person before you separated also.

If you find that your partner does not want to spend time with you as much as he or she does with their friends then you need to wonder why he or she is with you? Arguing with your partner about this will not give you the true answer. Silence speaks a thousand words. I am a Psychic tarot cards reader and I believe we all need to meditate and take some me time alone to think about each day that passes. Close your eyes and perhaps rest on the sofa just thinking. You can of course do this sitting at your desk but not staring at the computer. You do not even need to close your eyes but you do need to close all other thoughts out of your mind and just think about the problem at hand. Be calm and relaxed when doing this breathing normally.

Intuition and gut feelings will give you the answer. Children and babies use this innate power to tell whether a person is good or evil. They can usually sense the good or bad aura of a person when they enter the room. If you have kids check this out yourself. I studied Psychology to degree level and one of the most interesting things I found out about babies is that they even know if it is a boy or girl baby in front of them while both are fully clothed. You know babies look the same at birth and afterwards for a long time. However it is the dilation of their eyes that are different when they are in front of a boy or girl. This has been scientifically proven. it would be normal for a baby to be apprehensive of strangers as we should also be. Babies are more vulnerable physically and mentally but are we not the same even as adults. The amount of damage strangers have done to adults. We are usually very trusting when we have grown up thinking we can tell the difference between good and evil but we are so busy rushing about in our lives that we do not notice what is really in front of us. We need to stop now and again and think about this.

So what happened to us as adults? Why did we lose that innate ability? Actually some of us still have that ability if only we would follow what our third senses are telling us? I urge you to follow that third sense as I do. It will help you realise the truth of your relationship which may be that you are in a good relationship even. Many times I have made excuses for friends who hardly ever visited me saying ohh they are probably just busy and have their own problems. Is that true?

Then the time came when a tragedy happened to me in my life and I got clear perspective of all the people around me. In fact the friends I believed were my true friends disappeared. My true friends turned up on my doorstep in my time of need. I loved those friends who did not contact me for a very long time after I realised they did not love me in return.

Now when I look back I realise that those friends I loved and I would shower with birthday presents every year forgot my birthday every year. They never turned up with presents like I did to their house. It is the same in a love relationship. Does he or she care or remember your Birthday or Valentines Day. He or she does not have to be a romantic and give you a present but he should be with you on that special day of yours whether it be your Birthday or Valentines Day. After all do we really want the present or do we want to spend our special time with our partner either just watching tv together or enjoying a nice takeaway together or just cooking and fighting in the kitchen all day. I think being together is the most important thing to prove love to me. I don't need the fancy car or the diamond ring because when I leave this world I leave all that behind. I want to know that I have spent my time here enjoying myself with my partner not staring at the diamond ring he gave me and he is not with me.

This is a subject very close to my heart due to the experiences I have had and I believe it is this previous experience that opened my eyes. People like me only realise our mistakes after making the mistakes. We cannot read a blog like this and learn from it. At least I could not. I always thought I was right. I can write for ever on this subject but this is a blog not a thesis. I would like you to spend some alone time today and think about the relationships in your life and put each one in its correct box. Do not do what I did and loved everybody when I later found they did not love me back. I am talking about friends, family and partners. Love comes in many forms and whichever form it takes it should be the real thing. We need to learn to see through the ones that want to fool us and see the ones that truly love us.
