How to shape your body with ballet

17/03/2015

Ballet is a great release of stress, allowing you the freedom to express yourself through movement, with a demonstrable effect on the way you perceive yourself, and how others look at you. We had an interview with Asta to find out how you can sculpture your body with ballet classes.

Cylex 1. How did Ballet Body Sculpture started?

Ballet Body Sculpture: Up until my retirement from the ballet arena a few years ago, I was working as an international ballet dancer in some of the most prestigious companies in Europe, as well as participating in international ballet Gala performances worldwide. During my ballet career, I had to learn about the focus and precision of body mechanics, core strength, body conditioning and posture; as well as the specialised art of specific ballet exercises and techniques, which developed the fitness and confidence essential to perform lead roles at celebrated venues. This valuable experience, gave me a base to develop classical ballet exercises I'd perfected into a program. One that could be taught as a highly effective fitness class to develop and maintain great posture, a toned & well conditioned body, coordination, spacial awareness and artistry. Subsequently, through the study of NLP, I refined the program further into a mind and body class, specifically for women to enjoy and rapidly develop a healthy attractive body; a great alternative to other fitness regimes and workouts, which are not specifically focused on the female form.

Cylex 2. What sort of courses are there available?

Ballet Body Sculpture: We offer various classes in London, including group lessons as well as private training. The program has become highly successful with professional and affluent ladies aged between 25 and 65, who are looking to increase their confidence, fitness and sense of wellbeing. The classes are very much focused on achieving the desired results, with a combination of exercises, including NLP ( neuro linguistic programming ), the mind-body program is unique and has never been used before. Clients look younger, feel great and find their lives take on new meaning and purpose through the confidence building techniques we employ. Rather than just another fitness exercise, the Ballet Body Sculpture program combines physical and personal development, giving women a unique holistic workout for the mind and the body. The classes are held in great venues, as well as being available during weekdays and weekends. We welcome all levels of fitness at our group classes as well as providing a personal level of program during our private classes. The class attendance is flexible, you can vary the day of the week, however better results we advise to exercise on a regular basis, whenever possible.

Cylex 3. How long does a course last?

Ballet Body Sculpture: The group and private classes are structured as a 60min workout class, however if there are special requests, we also offer extended classes on a personal training basis. We recommend starting with our 2 or 6 months training packages to begin with, and then moving to a more intensive level to really boost results.

Cylex 4. Is the equipment available or a person should come prepared?

Ballet Body Sculpture: One of the great benefits of our classes that you don’t really need any equipment! Using just your own body weight, the professionally designed unique exercises, allow to achieve great results, developing lean long muscles and dancer-like physique.

Cylex 5. What are the benefits of Ballet Body Sculpture?

Ballet Body Sculpture: By combining classical ballet, Pilates & stretching, with a series of visualisation techniques, the effects are rapid & dramatic. In group or private classes, students find the exercises progressive and very rewarding, developing graceful posture, core strength, flexibility, tone, balance and coordination, within a safe fun social environment. Our goal is to ensure you feel and see the effects of ballet sculpturing from day one. No previous experience in ballet or fitness is necessary to join our classes, start by attending a trial class or booking an individual assessment session for specific goals. You will find us relaxed and welcoming; always with your best interests at heart. We want you to look and feel your best. We also coach individuals looking for an alternative to conventional physiotherapy for a range of physical conditions. Our expertise comes from many years working at the highest level of international ballet. More than simply dance, ballet professionals are athletes who understand anatomy and body mechanics more than any discipline. The program is based on many years of body/ mind management, working with injuries and recovery whilst still maximising peak performance.

Cylex 6. What do you like about what you do?

Ballet Body Sculpture: When I was a principle in the ballet, one of the most enjoyable aspects was seeing the audiences reaction to my performance. Within the BBS program I get the same sense of achievement, but on a much more personal level. To take a woman who is looking to achieve a better bodyline or even solve a physical problem, and then see the rapid gains we make together gives me an immense amount of pleasure in really making a lasting difference to peoples’ lives. What we have created is a unique fitness program that I’m very proud of, and the feedback from clients exceeds the best reviews of my ballet career.

Absolutely not, no experience in necessary. The classes are for all women who are conscious about their appearance, and like a very personal approach with their training.
