    The organisation was founded over 80 years ago in 1924 by Joseph Allnatt, a visionary and entrepreneur. He bought a dis-used aerodrome in St Mary's Bay, Kent and converted it into a Residential Centre for Schools during the summer and ran it as a Turkey farm during the winter! The Camp was huge, accommodating over a thousand children per week engaged in a vast programme of outdoor activities in the extensive grounds, and visits into the surrounding countryside. A highlight of the week was the Campfire and Sing Song attended on occasions by the Duke of York. Later Royalty included the Princess Royal and the Crown Prince of Norway, who with heavy bodyguard presence, managed to complete a Geography Field Trip each!

    The aim of this appeal is to raise money to invest in state of the art equipment for the NHS to perform liver surgery to the highest possible standards. The liver is a site of secondary cancer for many patients who suffer with bowel cancer. Removing cancer for the liver by operation will significantly improve the chance of survival in at least a third of patients. Other subsidiary aims include the setting up of a database to collect information on patients undergoing liver surgery for secondary cancer and to educate by distributing patient guides to treatment options through hospital clinics and general practice surgeries. For the future we wish to set up an academic chair at the Post Graduate Medical School, University of Surrey. It will be a challenging achievement.
