Reiki healing is a holistic therapy that is wonderfully relaxing and energising. It is a simple yet powerful healing process. Reiki works to balance the energy flow throughout the body, allowing the body to balance and heal itself on all levels: the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. During the year the school was bursting at the seams with sporting events and clubs. Coaching took place in tag rugby, kwik cricket and football, and teams represented Thongsley Fields at County school events. Premier Soccer is open to both Key Stage 1 and 2. Connect 4 club continued to be a huge success in Key Stage 2. In our flower garden and vegetable patch, our gardening goes from strength to strength. The produce from the vegetable garden is sown, tended, harvested and eaten by the whole school.
The history surrounding Zen goes back more than 15 years when Sylvia Chandler was running a succesful flower arranging shop on Corporation Street in Birmingham's busy city centre. Sylvia had been using plants, herbs and various alternative and complementary therapies all through her life and had a vision to open up a shop that could help people discover how to take care of themselves, naturally. Serenity was opened on Corporation Street, this was moved to Brindley Place with the name of Zen and the art of flower arranging, which was eventually changed to simply Zen.
