Southern Counties German Shepherd Rescue is a 'not for profit' company established primarily to provide care and shelter for stray, neglected and unwanted German Shepherd dogs (also known as Alsatians or GSD) by means of rescue and rehoming. We never destroy a healthy dog, believing that a kind and permanent home exists for every dog whatever their temperament or disability. We always carefully match dogs to their new homes as we believe this is the key to ensuring a long-term, happy, fulfilled relationship between dog and owner.
Thousands of greyhounds retire from racing every year. Some are less than two years old; the majority are aged around three and four. Many people do not realise that greyhounds make excellent family pets. They are gentle, loving and adapt to home life easily. Contrary to common belief they are actually very lazy and only need two 20 minute walks each day. When re-homed responsibly they can live with other breeds of dogs and other pets such as cats.
