Sussex Police demonstrates a firm commitment to equality and diversity, both within the organisation and through the service we provide to our public. Specialist teams are responsible for the security of our ports along the coast and for Gatwick Airport: they work with their colleagues across Surrey, Kent and Hampshire as well as HM Coastguard to provide the most effective cross-border policing for the south-east of England. The Safety, Education and Enforcement Services department was formed in 2007 and brings together a number of specialist functions focused on road safety and firearms licensing. The department has the strategic aim of achieving a reduction in the number of collisions that result in death or serious injury in Dorset, through education and the use of enforcement methods. The department also focuses on enforcing the law and educating the public in relation to firearms and explosives licensing. Part of this department's role is to be responsible for delivering the force’s procurement and contractual requirements in respect of goods, services and supplies. During 2001, responding directly to the needs of the Force, the Contracts Department initiated a total of 57 new best value contracts with a total spend of £9 million.

Gwent Police cover an area of 600 square miles bounded by Abergavenny in the North, Newport in the South, Chepstow in the East and Caerphilly in the West. The Gwent policing area is mixed, rural and urban, and the road network carries large volumes of traffic through the M4 link to the East, which now incorporates the Second Severn Crossing. The investigation of crime is a specialist area of police work and Gwent Police has a dedicated Criminal Investigation department. Crime Investigation tackles a wide range of crimes including burglary and car crime to very serious offences like the supply of controlled drugs, murder and terrorism.

The Force responds to incidents 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week and receives more than a million phone calls every year. More than 120, 000 of these are emergency 999 calls requesting immediate police attention. Police officers and staff operate from the Police Headquarters and police stations based in Brackley, Corby, Daventry, Kettering, Oundle, Northampton, Rushden, Wellingborough, alongside some of the county's major routes into the county. Car crime makes up nearly 20% of all crime throughout England and Wales and it is regarded as a policing priority within Warwickshire. The main aim of Neighbourhood Policing is to deal with issues that mater most to communities and dedicated officers are now responsible for specific areas, so that members of the community have direct access to “their” officer. Every Neighbourhood Team member has an e mail address and additional telephone numbers, so that residents are able to contact their local officer. Neighbourhood Officers have also introduced different methods of engagement for their areas, so that communities have the opportunity to influence the priorities that the Police and Partner agencies should be working towards. These could include regular public meetings (PACT meetings), during which members of the community vote on priorities for the Police and Partner agencies to deal with. In addition to PACT meetings, other methods of consultation and engagement include PACT Panels, surgeries, surveys and street briefings.
