Over the past 15 years the Saleroom has been modified and improved to give a much better layout for Sales. The slight winter chill in the Saleroom is turned to advantage in the summer when the Saleroom seems (to hundreds of prospective bidders) to be the COOLEST place in Bideford!

In 1999 Age Concern conducted a feasibility study to look at setting up an Older People's Forum. A steering group of 10 to 12 older people was set up and began exploring the most appropriate way to represent older people. The group met on a regular basis to look at the issues affecting older people in Gateshead. In 2002 we became an independent organisation known as Gateshead Forum for Older People, with financial support from Help the Aged. In 2007 at the request of Gateshead Council we became an Assembly which is a great achievement and testament to the hard work of our volunteers.
