Oak View is a medium secure hospital that provides a safe environment for the assessment, treatment and care of up to 17 young people, aged 12 to 18 (male or female), who have been detained under the Mental Health Act. The facility is in a pleasant semi-rural location, less than 3 1/2 miles from the M25 and within an hour of central London by train. Each young person at Oak View is assigned to a care team, with a named Key Worker. In collaboration with the young person, their care team will draw up an individual plan for them. Being part of the process helps the young person to understand and be actively involved in their health care on an ongoing basis. Oak View recognises the importance of the family unit and is committed to working closely with family members and carers for the long-term benefit of the young people in its care. Treatment programmes include whole family meetings and parent counselling.

Mind in Harrow has been awarded a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to run an innovative new project. The “Hidden Minds” Heritage Project will run as part of our Stepping Stones Project. As a residential school we provide what we call a 'waking curriculum', the pupils are presented with a full days programme from getting up to going to bed. The morning break and lunch break both provide a series of opt in activities for all the pupils, there is no opt out option. Pupils are fully supervised throughout all the sessions. Residential pupils have two activity sessions each evening, a pre-tea activity which is invariably school based and places little physical demand, post tea activities are usually physical. The range of activities include most major team and outdoor education sports. Cultural and craft opportunities are also available on a frequent basis and daily if there is demand.
