Originally named Midland Hosiery Mills and established as a ladies' hosiery factory, it would be some years before the Pantherella brand was to evolve. Pantherella has always bucked the trend, from its heyday in 1937 when its competitors were churning out bulky, bland men's socks, with very little in the way of choice, let alone comfort. Indeed, there was widespread scepticism when Pantherella's maverick founder, Mr Louis Goldschmidt, speculated that there would be a potential for producing lighter weight products for men.
Trimmings and fashion accessories form an important part in the make-up of clothing today. Even the smallest embellishment can transform a simple and an ordinary garment into something special and fashionable. We at Karadia, have been supplying trimmings and accessories to the clothing industry internationally for more than thirty years now. Based in the UK we have manufacturing facilities with over two hundred trimming machines here in Leicester and a further four hundred plus in India. Having been established for more than thirty years now, we have seen many trends come and go and are confident that today we have a range of designs to suit all fashion trends past and present.
creative all-rounder, I arrived at a full-time career in illustration and typography via extra time served in the bizarre and magical worlds of pirate radio, lecturing, youth work, theatre and local newspapers. Creating words and pictures for an international client base, I've held 12 solo exhibitions across the UK and US. The second and third fingers of my right hand are permanently stained with black ink, which can only be removed (for special occasions) with bleach! Nibs and ink are my thing. I draw on paper and ink-heavy, word-soaked imagery is my trademark. Though I creep into fashion and beauty, the worlds of advertising, fiction, packaging and music are where my work seems to fit most snugly. If 'snug' is the right word..
