Our stretch of the Thames is named after Corney House, a walled medieval estate that was just downriver from the Pier. More recently, the area was home to the Thornycroft shipyard, whose bell may be seen in the Pier House. The large bollards along the wharf give evidence to the size of the ships once moored here. We organise public events on and by the river. Some add local value to large scale river happenings e.g. The Boat Race and The Great River Race. Others, for example the summer Party on the Pier, are local occasions when we offer information, fun and enjoyment to all on our part of the river!
