The recently revised school curriculum will create even greater choice for students whilst ensuring that all our young people are given high quality information and guidance.
Holyhead is a small primary school in Wednesbury, in the heart of the Black Country. We pride ourselves on the way that the many different cultures of the local community work calmly and peacefully together. I have always felt that the school is like an extended family and felt welcome and involved since the day I walked in the door nearly 4 years ago. Standards are high at the school with the children regularly achieving above the expected amount of progress. In the last 3 years we have been in the top 10% of schools for this twice. School Hours: Morning: 8:50am to 12:00pm (morning break time 10:30am - 10:45am); Afternoon: 1:00pm to 3:20pm (afternoon break time 2:00pm - 2:10pm); Early Years (Nursery Age) Opening Times: Morning 8:50am to 11:30am.

Pupils at our school can expect the most challenging learning experiences. These expectations, when added to the strong partnership into which we enter with Honywood families, ensure our pupils consistently out perform their peers, making us one of the most effective schools in the country.
Each year we aim to improve a few areas. Last year we were delighted to introduce increased residential experiences which you can read more about on the class pages. We also improved our national and international links resulting in the British Council Full International Award. Currently we are enhancing our teaching and learning to bring all this up to the good and outstanding standards evident in much of the school. The children are helping to redesign the outdoor spaces to make them more interesting and we are aiming to achieve a science award by demonstrating good practice throughout the school. The homework is set each Friday, and is collected in on the following Friday. This consists of spellings each week, and a piece of either Literacy or Numeracy. Our Teaching staff all take special interests in developing areas within the school.
