Cromer High School is a mixed 11 - 16 foundation school with 517 students on roll and has been a sports college since September 2010. The school day consists of five sixty minute lessons, starting at 08.20am. There is a 15 minute break at 10.20am and a 35 minute lunch break at 12.35pm. Tutor time is at 2.15pm until school finishes at 2.35pm. At Cromer High School we aim to ensure that all our students, whatever their ability, reach the highest level of achievement possible. The school became a Foundation School in September 2007. At Manor Park we try and ensure that when delivering a broad, balanced curriculum we provide the children with as many opportunities as possible. There are a variety of educational visits linked to our thematic curriculum and children across the school attend swimming lessons and all children have been coached by a sports specialist (Sportwise, BCFC and ARTIS), music teachers (steel pans and choir), environmentalists, dancers, science workshops, first aid tutors (St John's ambulance) and so on. Prospective parents and children are warmly invited to visit the school, Open Days and Evenings are held early in October, when programmes are arranged so that the school may be seen in action. Staff and students are available in the evening to guide visitors and discuss, in detail, aspects of the school. The Headteacher welcomes visitors in the Main Hall at key points during the evening.
The spacious school grounds are located on the outskirts of Wivenhoe next to open countryside, and offer outstanding views across the river estuary out to the sea. Our site contains two hard-surfaced playgrounds, sports pitches, playing fields, and nature areas for the study of wildlife, an activity trail and a ‘living maze’ with pathways through trees, shrub borders and flower-beds.
